Qianling and Yangmo’s actions attracted the attention of quite a few people around them. However, Qianling’s current appearance was no different from any other student, and people easily noticed Yangmo’s injuries, so no one cast strange looks their way.
Only when they passed by other students did they hear someone exclaim, “Wow, that’s amazing. That girl is so short, yet she’s walking so briskly while carrying someone.”
This prompted Qianling to mutter indignantly, “Nosy.”
Yangmo had been frowning in pain just a moment ago, but now she curled her index finger against her lips and let out a soft giggle.
Looking at her like this, Qianling couldn’t help but sigh.
‘Well, at least it means she isn’t in that much pain anymore,’ she thought to herself.
Afterward, under Yangmo’s guidance, Qianling found a clinic located outside the residential area. Compared to going through the procedures at a large hospital, it was indeed much more convenient to go directly to a clinic for these types of superficial wounds.
Yangmo originally hadn’t shown much of a reaction to the pain of her wounds, but when the doctor began cleaning and disinfecting them, she started moaning and whimpering again.
Qianling couldn’t help with this, so she could only watch from the side with a worried expression.
Fortunately, treating the wounds was a quick process, so it didn’t last very long. Finally, a square piece of medical gauze was applied, and the job was considered done.
“Remember to come back in two days to change the dressing,” the doctor instructed before they left.
The two of them left the clinic, and Yangmo first found a nearby public restroom to take off her torn leggings and throw them away. Then, she and Qianling walked onto the nearby street.
Qianling originally wanted to carry Yangmo back just as she had before, but Yangmo insisted, “I’m fine now. I can walk perfectly fine on my own.”
She even abruptly put on a silly, smiling face and said to Qianling, “It’s not early anymore. Why don’t we just eat out tonight?”
“I’m telling you… next time, I’m really going to complain to Yangxia.”
Qianling’s threat had no effect.
Yangmo hooked her arm through Qianling’s and asserted her point once more. “Qianling, what’s wrong with having something delicious once in a while?”
“Are you sure it’s ‘once in a while’?”
“My knee just got injured, so it’s only reasonable that I want to eat some fried chicken legs to replenish it.”
“What on earth is the connection between those two things?”
Even though Qianling tried her best to refute her, Yangmo remained completely deaf to her words. Eventually, Qianling was half-pushed and half-pulled to the entrance of a chain pizza parlor.
‘She says her knee is injured, yet she has so much strength when she pulls me. I’ve heard people say that sweets go to a second stomach; is fast food a second pair of legs?’
She really wanted to know how Yangmo managed to do it.
After entering beneath the red sign, the two of them first found a relatively low seat to sit in to avoid stretching the wound due to their sitting posture. Then, they began to wait quietly for the food to be served.
Eventually, a beef pizza bearing the title of “Super,” as well as fries, chicken wings, and other snacks, were placed on the table, accompanied by two cups of lemon tea.
Although the pizza’s name sounded quite imposing, the portion size was not. If not for the variety of snacks, it wouldn’t have been enough for the two of them. Fortunately, the taste was at least decent; the flavor of the tomatoes combined well with the aroma of the meat and cheese.
Qianling didn’t even put on plastic gloves, devouring her portions in a few bites. Even if her hands got greasy, it would wash off easily. In fact, even if she didn’t wash them, the grease would eventually be incinerated by the functions of her Mana Core over time.
At times like this, Qianling felt she should appreciate that this was indeed a world where magic existed. If a doll or a robot from her past life were stained with such grime, she didn’t know how much effort it would take to clean it.
By the time they finished the meal, the sky had gradually darkened.
Yangmo’s mood seemed to have improved significantly, and her movements became more lively as she walked out of the store. Consequently, a moment later, she began to tremble on the spot from the pain of her wound being rubbed.
“Don’t forget that you still have an injury…” Qianling walked over to her side to remind her.
“I remember now…” Yangmo’s voice was also trembling slightly.
“Oh, right.” She seemed to have suddenly thought of something and said to Qianling, “Qianling, let’s do ‘that’ again!”
Qianling expressed her confusion. “What is ‘that’?”
In response, Yangmo proactively opened her arms to her, just as she had done before.
“Can you take me to see the scenery again? You probably haven’t wandered around much at night before, right?”
Qianling thought about it, and it was exactly as she said; she had almost never wandered through the town at night before. Moreover, since Yangmo’s knee was injured anyway, it seemed reasonable for her to help her move around.
So she replied, “No problem.”
Afterward, she activated her stealth magic and carried Yangmo to climb a nearby building. The night wind was a bit colder than during the day, but as a price for that, they saw a scenery that was completely different from the usual.
As Qianling and Yangmo leaped above the town, they frequently broke free from the constraints of the lights and merged into the night sky. Whenever that happened, they could see the lights on the streets below, looking like gashes torn into the pitch-black earth.
Yangmo didn’t marvel at the current scenery as she had the first time, but when they entered the range of the light, Qianling could still see a satisfied expression on her face.
“Look, Qianling, the temple fair is usually held on that street.”
Qianling looked in the direction Yangmo was pointing and found that it was indeed the street she had seen on Yangxia’s phone. Now, even the lighting and the time matched; the only difference from the photo was whether the stalls were there or not.
“I remember there’s a place that sells delicious guokui at the temple fair. Ah… if only the temple fair were being held right now.”
Hearing her say this, Qianling really couldn’t take it anymore.
“We just came out of a pizza parlor after eating our fill. Just how little control do you have over your mouth?”
In response to Qianling’s complaint, Yangmo just chuckled a few times to brush it off.
Without realizing it, the two had moved above the park. Under the illumination of the colorful lights, the horse statue was particularly conspicuous at night.
Aside from when she had run away from Yangmo’s house, Qianling would stop to rest on the horse’s back whenever she came near here. By now, it had almost become her exclusive seat.
Perhaps because Yangmo also remembered what happened back then, she pointed at the statue and said, “Let’s land there.”
“Mhm.”
Qianling gave a short response. In the next instant, Iron Thorns propped themselves up between the two of them and the ground like springs.
As more and more parts of the Iron Thorns folded in a Z-shape, Qianling and Yangmo’s descent speed became slower and slower, eventually reaching the ground in a state of near-stillness.
The moment Qianling put Yangmo down, the girl seemed to have forgotten her earlier reminder again and ran toward the statue in two or three steps.
Qianling sighed, then followed her footsteps to stand side by side with her.
