After realizing that all her hard work had been for nothing, Xiaoye looked as if she couldn’t accept reality.
Her eyes widened as she stumbled back a few steps before finally slumping onto the sofa, staring blankly into space.
“No way… Even after doing all that, I can’t even restore a little bit of Mana?”
In order to quickly promote herself to an S-rank Magical Girl, Xiaoye had resorted to every possible means.
She never expected it to end like this.
Not only was her 2 hours of maid work in vain, but she had even lost a Crazy Thursday meal in the process.
After putting in so much effort, all she had to show for it was a white-haired pig that looked somewhat cute.
She was in a worse state than Zhou Yu, who had lost both his wife and his army.
‘Where exactly did things go wrong?’
‘Was I guessing wrong from the very beginning?’
‘Is it possible he isn’t actually the Gluttony Witch? Maybe he just happens to eat a lot… is that it? Or…’
Attempting to reorganize her thoughts, Xiaoye couldn’t help but turn her gaze toward Mahiru, who was not far away.
‘Is it possible that after Older Brother snatched control of the body, the ability mutated? Maybe he isn’t the Gluttony Witch anymore, but some other type of Witch.’
‘If that’s the case, how am I supposed to find out Older Brother’s true name?’
Just as Xiaoye was fretting over this, a sudden flash of inspiration struck her.
She quickly pulled out her Mobile Phone and opened the database within the Magical Girl App.
The detailed abilities of every Witch defeated by a Magical Girl were recorded in this database.
It was possible that Older Brother’s ability appeared here as well.
However, Older Brother had only ever used a Water Shield Magic that could reflect damage, much like Xiao Qiao’s Heavenly Fragrance.
Trying to filter out exactly what kind of Witch he was based on that alone would be no easy task.
Even so, for the sake of her future as an S-rank Magical Girl, she had to find a way to overcome the obstacle before her no matter what.
Yet, after Xiaoye searched for over 10 minutes, she couldn’t find a single Witch that matched Mahiru.
This caused her to scratch her head in frustration.
“Dammit! Brother, just what kind of Witch are you?”
However, after venting her inner frustrations out loud, Xiaoye suddenly noticed something.
While she was working hard to comb through the database, her brother—the one who had eaten his fill and had nothing better to do—was acting like nothing was wrong.
He had turned on the TV and was sitting by the low table, holding a game controller and enjoying a wonderful gaming session.
Seeing Mahiru so enthusiastically immersed in a fierce battle, Xiaoye’s anger flared up instantly.
‘Wow. Here I am, working myself to the bone investigating, and you’re just sitting there reaping the benefits? Who exactly is the master of this house, you or me?’
“Brother! Why are you playing games again? You have zero Mana right now. Don’t you feel any sense of urgency at all?”
Xiaoye suddenly marched over to Mahiru, using her body to block his view of the screen.
She planted her hands on her hips and complained with a look of utter dissatisfaction.
“Uh… It’s not like I have anything else to do. Besides, it’s already past 4:00 PM, so the daily quests have refreshed. I’m just clearing my dailies. Is that so wrong?”
“My dear brother! You’ve turned into a Witch and you’re still worried about your games! Do you plan on spending the rest of your life with a game? And who was it that kept saying they would help me grind levels? Now you aren’t doing anything you’re supposed to be doing. How can you sit there and play games with a clear conscience? As punishment, you aren’t allowed to play games anymore!”
With that, Xiaoye reached out, intending to snatch the controller from Mahiru’s hands.
But Mahiru had no intention of surrendering his right to play games.
Faced with Xiaoye’s attempt to seize it, he put up a desperate resistance.
However, Mahiru’s defiance only served to enrage Xiaoye further.
Using her size advantage, Xiaoye pinned Mahiru down, sitting right on top of him.
Unable to escape, it was only a matter of time before Mahiru was disarmed.
“Stop struggling, Brother! In your current state, you’re no match for me! Just give me the controller like a good boy, or things are going to get ugly!”
“No way! Games are my only spiritual support! How could I just give them up so easily!”
“You should go out and make some real-world friends! If you keep staying cooped up at home, you’re going to rot!”
Mahiru and Xiaoye continued to bicker as they engaged in a fierce struggle for sovereignty over the game controller.
However, just as Xiaoye was about to successfully snatch the controller away, she suddenly noticed a trace of impurity mixed within the silver halo above Mahiru’s head.
Noticing this, Xiaoye stopped caring about the controller.
Without a second word, she pulled Mahiru’s head toward her and buried his face in her chest.
“Mmph…”
Caught off guard, Mahiru was instantly silenced by Xiaoye’s sudden “facial massage.”
He couldn’t understand it at all.
A moment ago, Xiaoye had been fighting him tooth and nail, and now she had suddenly done something so irrational. Did she want to start a different kind of battle with him?
Mahiru struggled, trying to pull away from Xiaoye’s chest, but she seemed completely oblivious.
She stared intently at the round silver halo atop Mahiru’s head, looking as carefully as if she were trying to pick out a needle.
As Xiaoye expected, there was indeed a tiny bit of black mixed into Mahiru’s silver halo.
If the halo represented a Witch’s Mana reserves, then the current situation meant that Mana had already begun to generate inside Mahiru’s body.
“Mmph, mmph, mmph!”
Mahiru continued to struggle in her arms.
Snapping back to reality, Xiaoye realized she was currently smothering him and hastily pushed him aside.
“Eek! Brother, what are you doing?”
“What do you mean, ‘what am I doing’? You’re the one who suddenly grabbed me without saying a word! What kind of crazy episode are you having?”
“Forget that. Brother, quickly use that Water Magic you used before!”
“Huh? Xiaoye, what’s wrong with you? I don’t have any Mana right now! How could I possibly use magic?”
“Stop talking nonsense. If I tell you to use it, just use it!”
Under Xiaoye’s forceful urging, Mahiru reluctantly raised his small hand and pointed it toward Xiaoye…
“Hey, don’t point it at me! Can’t you aim somewhere else?”
Xiaoye quickly moved Mahiru’s hand.
She didn’t want to be drenched by a splash of water again.
Although the direction of the spell was diverted toward the nearby window under Xiaoye’s intervention, it didn’t affect Mahiru’s casting.
Following the sensation he had felt before, Mahiru unleashed the so-called magic once again.
Suddenly, a mass of water manifested out of thin air and shot toward the window at an incredible speed.
Seeing this, both Mahiru and Xiaoye’s eyes widened in shock.
“Brother, your volume is way too much!”
