“It’s, it’s just okay.”
Liuli knew her words lacked conviction as her eyes occasionally drifted back to Serveyia’s legs.
Any observant person could tell she was just being stubborn.
“Is that so? That’s quite a pity ~”
There was a hint of a smile in Serveyia’s eyes as she spoke.
I knew she realized I was being stubborn, but since I had already started, I had to keep it up.
I couldn’t just give up halfway now, could I?
“Humph!”
Liuli turned her head away awkwardly, forcing herself not to look at Serveyia.
Was she joking?
She wasn’t born a Princess; she used to be just an ordinary male college Student.
Where would she find the strength to resist such temptation?
It was already impressive enough that she hadn’t surrendered within one second, let alone resisted it completely.
“Little Fox, if you really like it, you don’t have to hide it. There’s no need for so much formality between us, is there?”
“Then why are you still there tempting me, Serveyia?”
“That’s because the Little Fox looks so adorable ~ I couldn’t help but tease you.”
Serveyia’s words still made her feel a bit shy.
After all, being praised as cute would make anyone happy no matter the time, especially when that praise came from Serveyia’s mouth.
“Since you put it that way, Serveyia, I’ll reluctantly accept this compliment then.”
Despite what Liuli said, as Serveyia watched the Little Fox’s Nine Tails wagging incessantly, it was clear the Little Fox wasn’t nearly as calm as she appeared.
“Little Fox, your body has already betrayed you.”
Serveyia’s words caused Liuli to react instantly.
She forcefully stilled the Nine Tails swaying behind her, glaring at Serveyia with a face flushed from a mix of embarrassment and indignation.
“I, I said I don’t, so I don’t!”
Of course, the veracity of that statement was highly questionable.
Even though Liuli kept trying to control her tails, those disobedient appendages still betrayed her true thoughts from time to time.
“Fine, fine. You don’t, you don’t.”
It was no longer appropriate to keep teasing the Little Fox, so Serveyia went along with her words, trying to soothe the ruffled fur of the Little Fox before her.
“The Little Fox should go rest. You must be exhausted from studying Etiquette these past two days, right?”
“What about you?”
“I’m going to consider the candidates a bit more. Don’t worry, Little Fox. I am already in Adulthood; I can take care of myself.”
Fine, what else could she say if Serveyia put it like that?
Serveyia was certainly better at taking care of herself than Liuli was.
In that case, did taking care of herself count as helping Serveyia relieve stress?
“Alright then. You must go to sleep early, Serveyia. Goodnight, Serveyia.”
After saying goodnight, Liuli returned to her Room.
In truth, she really was just as Serveyia had said; a whole day of studying Etiquette had left her exhausted.
Her head had barely touched the pillow before she fell fast asleep.
When Serveyia returned to the Room, she found Liuli fast asleep on the Bed.
The blanket that should have been covering her had been kicked aside at some point.
Instead, Liuli was covered by her own Nine Tails.
Serveyia wanted to pull the blanket over her, but looking at those big, fluffy Nine Tails, she hesitated.
After all, it wasn’t cold inside Qingli Hall.
Even if she covered the Little Fox now, she would likely just kick it off again later.
‘Forget it.’
She placed the blanket aside.
‘If the Little Fox really gets cold, she’ll cover herself. Besides, with the resistance of a Nine-tailed Celestial Fox, she shouldn’t catch a cold, right?’
***
When Liuli woke up the next day, she found that Serveyia was no longer by her side.
It seemed to have been this way for a while; Serveyia was always awake before her and would even prepare breakfast.
Although every action Serveyia took could be called thoughtful, Liuli would still wake up every morning wondering if she would have the chance to eat breakfast together with Serveyia today.
In Liuli’s view, time spent alone together was perfect for cultivating feelings.
Not to mention, she and Serveyia had only just become a couple, and Liuli wasn’t even sure how deep their emotional foundation was.
That was why she felt an extra Desire for some private time right now.
However, every time Liuli woke up, she was met with disappointment.
Serveyia would have already finished her breakfast and would be sitting at the nearby desk, handling documents.
While technically this counted as being alone together, the fact that they weren’t doing the same thing always made Liuli feel like they were out of sync.
And honestly, a common reason for breakups was being out of sync.
Though Liuli felt a mysterious certainty in her heart that she and Serveyia wouldn’t break up, one could never be sure about such things.
The closer two people were, the more painful a breakup would be.
Serveyia was still her Close Maid; Liuli didn’t even dare imagine how awkward it would be to see each other every day if they actually broke up.
So, if only to save herself from that awkwardness, she had to find a way to ensure they never parted.
Liuli didn’t know when she had become so sentimental.
She hadn’t been like this before.
Why did she feel so constrained when facing Serveyia?
“Serveyia, are there really that many candidates to consider?”
In Liuli’s memory, the maximum number of people to consider should have been for her personal staff.
If it was just those people, it shouldn’t have taken so much time to prepare, right?
“Normally, there wouldn’t be so many. However, everyone’s enthusiasm is too high. Many people have signed up wanting to become your Guard, Little Fox. That’s why it’s taking so much time.”
“Whoa, everyone is that enthusiastic?”
Liuli truly hadn’t expected everyone to care so much about this.
Could it be related to her Princess Identity?
“After all, being able to travel to different places with the Princess is considered a dream job. Especially for the non-Guard positions, there’s no danger at all. Even you would be tempted if you were in their shoes.”
Serveyia smiled and explained.
To be honest, if things were really as she said, it was indeed a dream job.
Traveling with your idol and even getting to be close to them — most importantly, without spending a dime!
This was a total paradise for a fangirl!
