Dawn.
The faint light of early morning slipped through the cracks of the screen window, quietly creeping into the room and falling upon the wooden bed by the window.
On the bed, the white-haired girl’s eyelashes fluttered slightly before she slowly opened her eyes.
“Ugh…”
Above her was an unfamiliar ceiling.
Loweia stared at it for a long while, but her mind remained blank; she still couldn’t remember a single thing.
The girl sighed softly.
Just like yesterday, her memory was empty.
However, compared to the pure void she had felt upon first waking, that expanse of white was now tinged with a hint of a different color.
She instinctively looked to her side, where a black-haired girl was slumped over the edge of the bed.
Half of the girl’s pretty face was buried in the crook of her arm.
A few messy strands of hair hung beside her cheek, rising and falling gently with her steady breathing.
She was still wearing that tattered T-shirt.
In the chill of the early morning, the black-haired girl’s figure looked somewhat frail.
She had really stayed by the bedside to accompany her all night.
The moment she realized this, a surge of warmth welled up in Loweia’s heart, though it was quickly followed by a deep sense of guilt toward Bai Yu.
If it weren’t to take care of her, Bai Yu wouldn’t have had to slump by the bed for an entire night.
Sleeping in such a position for so long must have been incredibly uncomfortable.
Yet, because of Loweia’s instinctive actions the previous night, Bai Yu—who had originally intended to leave—had stayed behind to keep her company.
‘Bai Yu is truly a gentle person.’
If she had harbored any doubts about their Lover Relationship yesterday, the sight of the figure who had stayed by her side all night caused those doubts to dissipate significantly.
Was she always like this in the past?
Was she always afraid of the pitch-black darkness and the silence that never offered a response?
When she had woken up yesterday and saw the room shrouded in darkness, she had tried calling for Bai Yu.
When no response came, an uncontrollable wave of terror had flooded her heart.
She had instinctively curled into the corner of the bed, clutching the quilt tightly for protection while continuing to call for Bai Yu.
She had tried to believe that perhaps the other girl just hadn’t heard her, or was busy with something, and hadn’t simply abandoned her in that darkness.
Afterward, she seemed to have lost her composure.
Upon seeing Bai Yu return, she had instinctively reached out to get close to her, wanting to grab hold of her like a drowning person clutching a piece of driftwood.
She had gripped the hem of Bai Yu’s shirt like that for a long time.
Looking back now, she had been far too irrational.
Why was she instinctively afraid of all that?
Loweia didn’t know; she couldn’t find the answer.
Just like yesterday, whenever she tried to reminisce, a stinging pain would force her to stop.
Even if she endured the pain to keep searching, she still couldn’t recall anything.
Was she afraid of these things before?
Every time she was scared, did Bai Yu have to go through the trouble of taking care of her?
Looking at the black-haired girl’s peaceful sleeping face, Loweia felt another pang of guilt.
‘I’m sorry. Even though you’ve done so much for me, I still can’t remember anything.’
If Bai Yu heard those words, she would surely offer a smile.
‘We’re lovers, after all. Taking care of Wei Ya is what I’m supposed to do.’
Bai Yu would definitely say those words with a smile.
She really was kind.
Staring at the black-haired girl’s sleeping face, a faint smile unconsciously appeared on Loweia’s lips as well.
She couldn’t let her keep sleeping like that.
Perhaps she should carry Bai Yu onto the bed.
But did she actually have the strength to lift her?
She remembered trying to get out of bed yesterday.
The moment her feet touched the floor, she had felt a wave of dizziness.
If she hadn’t grabbed the bed in time, she probably would have collapsed.
If that happened, Bai Yu would just worry about her again.
‘No… considering how much Bai Yu has done for me, I can’t just lie here forever. I need to do something for her, too.’
With that thought, Loweia decided to try again.
Perhaps after eating something yesterday, she had recovered enough that she wouldn’t feel dizzy today.
Loweia gently lifted a corner of the quilt.
Bai Yu was still deep in her dreams, and it wouldn’t be good to wake her.
Once her feet touched the ground, Loweia held onto the edge of the bed and tried to stand.
After confirming that she wasn’t dizzy like she was the day before, she slowly released her grip.
Finding her balance, Loweia tried taking a few steps around the room.
At first, her steps were a bit weak and unsteady, but after a few more, her gait stabilized.
Whew… it seemed she had recovered quite a bit.
At least she could walk normally now.
Walking to the window, Loweia gently pulled back a corner of the curtain and looked outside.
It was still early, and the world outside was still shrouded in a gray morning mist.
Within her field of vision was an old urban area.
Was this the place where she and Bai Yu lived together?
Despite looking at the unfamiliar environment, she still couldn’t remember a thing.
Loweia shook her head slightly.
As expected, memories weren’t recovered that easily.
She let go of the curtain and turned back toward Bai Yu.
She didn’t know if she could actually carry her.
If she failed to lift her and woke her up instead, that would be bad.
Loweia took a deep breath and leaned down.
She carefully helped Bai Yu turn over first, then hooked one arm under her shoulders and the other under her knees.
“Ugh…”
As she applied a bit of strength, Loweia’s eyebrows shot up in surprise.
She was so light.
While she was lying in bed being cared for yesterday, she hadn’t noticed.
It was only now, holding her in her arms, that she realized Bai Yu was even more petite than she had imagined.
She felt like a small, soft bundle in her arms, and she carried a very pleasant scent.
Loweia’s grip tightened slightly.
The soft sensation of the girl’s body and the warmth radiating through her clothes stirred a strange sense of attachment within her.
For a moment, she didn’t want to put Bai Yu down; she wanted to keep holding her just like this.
However, the thought only lasted for a few seconds before Loweia suppressed it.
She gently placed Bai Yu on the bed and tucked her in.
Once she finished, Loweia turned and left the room.
Though she wasn’t holding out much hope, she wanted to look for traces of their life together.
Perhaps it would help her find her memories.
The living room wasn’t large, and the furnishings were simple, but everything within sight was clean, tidy, and organized.
Unfortunately, everything here was just as foreign to her.
She still couldn’t remember anything.
Loweia walked around the living room, but nothing managed to spark a memory.
Eventually, she reached the bathroom, where she saw two sets of toiletries sitting side by side on the vanity.
One set was blue, and the other was pink.
The heads of the toothbrushes leaned close together, like two snuggling figures.
The cups had names carefully written on waterproof stickers.
Was this prepared for her because of her amnesia?
She saw her own name on the pink cup.
The handwriting was elegant and cute, likely Bai Yu’s.
The name on the other cup was, naturally, Bai Yu’s.
As she stared at the name on the cup, Loweia’s vision suddenly blurred for a moment.
Then, her gaze fell upon the mirror above the sink.
The mirror reflected a pale, breathtakingly beautiful face.
Her long, silver-white hair looked like flowing moonlight, and her crimson eyes resembled a pair of translucent rubies.
She had some impression of this face.
She remembered that the white-haired girl she had seen in the photograph yesterday looked exactly like this.
Loweia reached out, her fingertips gently touching the figure in the mirror that felt so a stranger to her.
‘Is this… me?’
