Chapter 2: Commemorative Photos

The room was quiet, with only the occasional sound of a siren drifting in from outside the window.

After Bai Yu left the room, Loweia closed her eyes to take a short nap.

However, she couldn’t fall asleep no matter what.

Her thoughts were a tangled mess.

She tried to clear her mind and force herself into a state of sleep, but it still didn’t work.

‘Who am I? Why am I here? Is that girl named Bai Yu really my lover?’

A series of questions kept pouring into her mind, giving her a splitting headache and making it impossible to fall asleep.

Loweia opened her eyes with some irritation and tried to prop herself up to sit.

She couldn’t sleep; she simply couldn’t sleep.

Her mind was a mess, and she couldn’t remember anything.

She didn’t even know who she was, yet under these circumstances, she had appeared in a strange place and met a girl who claimed to be her lover.

She didn’t have the slightest impression of the girl named Bai Yu.

However, looking at Bai Yu’s attitude, the concern showing in those purple eyes didn’t seem fake.

Were they really in a Lover Relationship?

She couldn’t remember.

She couldn’t remember anything at all.

Loweia irritably tapped her forehead.

She hated this feeling, but whenever she tried to recall something, the stinging pain in her head forced her to stop.

She was merely torturing herself in vain; she couldn’t remember a single thing this way.

“If you can’t remember, don’t force yourself.”

A voice seemed to drift into her ears, sounding like something Bai Yu had said to her.

Loweia looked around, but Bai Yu wasn’t there.

She was probably busy preparing dinner for her right now.

It must have been an auditory hallucination.

Loweia sighed.

Bai Yu was right; since she couldn’t remember, there was indeed no need to keep forcing herself.

In that case, she might as well look at her past living environment.

Perhaps it would help her remember something.

Her gaze wandered around the unfamiliar room, trying to find even the slightest trace of familiarity in this old but tidy environment.

However, after looking around once, she still didn’t find any familiar traces.

The girl’s gaze continued to scan the room aimlessly until it finally landed on a Photo Frame sitting on the nightstand.

Loweia’s heart stirred.

She reached out toward the Photo Frame, easily reaching its edge and pulling it closer.

Perhaps it had been placed so close specifically for it to be easily reached.

Her gaze fell on the picture inside the frame.

It was a scene on The Rooftop, dyed red by the orange-red sunset.

Two girls, one with black hair and one with white, had their backs to the sunset and were gesturing toward the camera.

A bright smile overflowed from the face of the black-haired girl on the left.

Loweia had seen this person; it was Bai Yu, who had just claimed to be her lover.

She looked very happy in the photo.

On the other side, long silver-white hair fluttered in the wind.

The slight curve of the white-haired girl’s lips made her look very happy.

“Is this… me?”

Staring at the smiling white-haired, red-eyed girl in the photo, Loweia whispered in a daze.

The white-haired girl in the photo looked very happy and content.

Was it because of the girl named Bai Yu next to her?

She didn’t know.

Looking at the scene in the photo, she still couldn’t remember anything.

She had even forgotten her own appearance, so she couldn’t even confirm if the white-haired girl in the photo was her.

As for her name, she remembered Bai Yu calling her Wei Ya.

“Wei Ya… Wei Ya…”

That was likely her name.

She suddenly felt the urge to prop herself up and get out of bed to walk around.

She wanted to find a mirror to see her own face, look at the home where she once lived, and see the figure who was currently busy for her sake.

The traces of her past life should give her a sense of familiarity.

However, she seemed to have underestimated the state of her body.

Just as her feet touched the floor and she tried to stand up, a sudden wave of dizziness caused her vision to go dark.

If she hadn’t braced herself against the nightstand in time, she probably would have fallen to the floor.

She slowly sat down while holding onto the nightstand.

Her current body only seemed fit for lying down; even sitting up brought a sense of fatigue.

It was better to go back to lying down.

Loweia lay back down and stared blankly at the unfamiliar ceiling.

After a long while, a creaking sound rang out as the door was opened.

“Are you awake? Perfect, the porridge is ready.”

As she spoke, Bai Yu walked in carrying a steaming porcelain bowl.

“Let me help you up first.”

She placed the porcelain bowl on the nightstand and was about to reach out to help Loweia up when the girl gently shook her head.

“I can do it myself.”

With a bit of effort, Loweia propped herself up.

Seeing this, Bai Yu picked up the bowl of white porridge again and sat on the edge of the bed.

“Wei Ya, open wide. Ah~”

She scooped up a spoonful of white porridge, carefully blew on it to cool it down, and held it to Loweia’s lips.

The girl didn’t refuse.

She opened her mouth and took the spoon.

The soft white porridge melted in her mouth, carrying a hint of sweetness that made her a little reluctant to let go of the spoon.

She only slowly released it after the flavor had completely vanished.

“There’s plenty more.”

Seeming to notice her lingering movements, the black-haired girl in front of her gave a faint smile.

She scooped another spoonful, blew on it, and held it to her lips.

After watching her swallow, Bai Yu’s voice rang out again.

“How does it taste?”

“It’s sweet…”

“I added a little sugar. After all, you used to love sweet things, Wei Ya.”

‘Used to?’

She didn’t remember, but this sweet taste was indeed very good.

She liked it.

Perhaps she really did love sweet things in the past.

As she thought this, Bai Yu scooped another spoonful and held it to her lips.

Spoon by spoon, half of the bowl was soon in her stomach.

“Um…”

After eating a bit, she felt like she had recovered a little and should be able to hold the bowl and eat by herself.

Although she hadn’t said anything before, she was still a bit embarrassed to be fed like this.

“I’ll do it myself.”

“I can do it.”

Seeing her firm attitude, Bai Yu hesitated for a moment but eventually nodded.

“Alright then, be careful of the heat.”

Even though she said that, Bai Yu didn’t hand the bowl directly to her.

Instead, she set it on the nightstand, went out to find a small folding wooden table, unfolded it in front of Loweia, and then safely placed the bowl on the table for her to eat.

Bai Yu’s actions made Loweia daze for a moment, and a wave of warmth surged into her heart.

‘Bai Yu is a very gentle person,’ she whispered to herself. Her gaze involuntarily drifted toward the Photo Frame she had placed back on the nightstand.

“Bai Yu, I want to know… what is that photo?”

“Hmm? That…”

Bai Yu followed her gaze and saw the Photo Frame on the nightstand.

A nostalgic expression appeared on the girl’s pretty face.

“That’s an Anniversary Photo we took on The Rooftop the day we confirmed our Lover Relationship.”

Despite saying that, a storm of complaints surged in the depths of Bai Yu’s heart.

‘What kind of Anniversary Photo? That was a picture I spent ages Photoshopping while Loweia was asleep! To make sure there were no flaws, I spent so much time retouching it that I almost died of exhaustion.’

‘But there was no other way. Since I chose to pretend we’re in a Lover Relationship, how could I skip a key prop like a photo of us together? This is a crucial item to increase her trust level.’
