Mu Ningxue’s face stiffened at his words. She had not expected that even death would become a luxury.
‘Is my Primordial Energy truly going to be lost today?’
Mu Ningxue closed her eyes in despair.
The sound of rustling came from outside the cell as the jailers left the dungeon one after another. Before long, Gu Ming and Mu Ningxue were the only ones left in this section of the prison.
Looking at Mu Ningxue with her eyes tightly shut, Gu Ming found it somewhat amusing. If he were not an undercover mole, a woman with her beauty would have long since been reduced to a toy for others to play with.
“Hey, woman.”
Gu Ming lifted Mu Ningxue’s smooth chin and stared deeply into her eyes. Mu Ningxue did not struggle; she seemed to have resigned herself to her fate.
Gu Ming did not mind and simply asked, “You charged into this King’s territory all by yourself. What was your intent?”
“Hmph.”
Mu Ningxue let out a cold snort and turned her face away.
Tsk, still giving him the cold shoulder?
Gu Ming clicked his tongue, feeling a surge of irritation. He had originally planned to take things step by step to leave the Divine Maiden some dignity. But now, he was done with that.
He was currently full of pent-up frustration.
Over the past month, many self-proclaimed members of the Righteous Factions had come here just to throw their lives away. In order to release these fools in a way that seemed logical, he had spent a great deal of energy and time.
Now, things were even worse. The small fry from the Righteous Factions had stopped coming, but the Divine Maiden of the Divine Maiden Palace — one of the five major powers of the Righteous Path Alliance — had come to deliver herself instead.
If she wanted to cause trouble, why couldn’t she just come through the main entrance like those previous small fries? Why did she have to take a peculiar path through some mountain corner filled with formations, only to get herself caught?
‘Mu Ningxue, oh Mu Ningxue, you are the Divine Maiden, not some random nobody.’
‘If I let you go easily, I won’t be able to give the Demon Cult an explanation. And if I can’t account for this, I’ll be the one who’s held accountable.’
He had been an undercover agent for many years; he could not let his efforts go to waste so easily.
‘Forgive me, Divine Maiden.’
After offering a silent apology in his heart, Gu Ming moved toward Mu Ningxue’s delicate feet. Without a word, he grabbed them.
Seeing this, Mu Ningxue panicked and cried out, “What do you think you’re doing? You can’t do this!”
Gu Ming ignored her and began to pull off the boots covering her feet. Mu Ningxue panicked even more and started to struggle.
However, she was currently bound by a special rope. Not only was her spiritual energy suppressed, but its recovery was also Forbidden. No matter how much she tried, she could not break free from Gu Ming. She could only watch helplessly as he removed her boots.
With tears shimmering in her eyes, Mu Ningxue shouted, “I’ll talk! I’ll talk! Is that enough?”
Gu Ming stopped what he was doing and looked at her.
Mu Ningxue bit her lower lip and said, “I only came here to find one person.”
“Who?”
Gu Ming was genuinely curious to know who in the Demon Cult’s territory could make the Divine Maiden of the Divine Maiden Palace ignore her own safety to come alone.
“Someone who can kill you,” Mu Ningxue said through gritted teeth.
Gu Ming sighed. There were only a handful of people in the Demon Cult’s territory who could mess with him: the Sect Leader or the other members of the Four Heavenly Kings. But why would they offend him for the sake of the Divine Maiden? It was impossible.
As Gu Ming’s gaze returned to her feet, Mu Ningxue’s expression turned to one of shock, and she hurriedly said, “I came to find the Jade-Faced Young Master!”
“The Jade-Faced Young Master?” Gu Ming’s expression became strange.
Seeing this, Mu Ningxue thought he was afraid and grew bolder. “That’s right! He is the Jade-Faced Young Master, the one who has repeatedly sneaked into your territory over the past month to rescue the members of the Righteous Factions you captured!”
“Him?”
Gu Ming was amused, and a handsome curve tugged at the corners of his lips. Was that person not himself?
To save those idiots who kept throwing their lives away, Gu Ming had been forced to fabricate a plausible secret identity — the Jade-Faced Young Master. To emphasize the importance of this false identity, he had even announced a massive bounty in his territory.
Anyone who provided a clue about the Jade-Faced Young Master would be rewarded with 10,000 High-grade Spirit Stones. Anyone who could capture the Jade-Faced Young Master, dead or alive, would be rewarded with 1,000,000 High-grade Spirit Stones.
