“Divine Maiden?”
Gu Ming suspected that he had misheard the information relayed to him.
The Divine Maiden was a figure second only to the Palace Master in the Divine Maiden Palace. Not only was her status exalted, but her strength was also top-tier. One could say she was one of the iconic figures of the Righteous Factions.
Yet, she had been captured and brought to his place?!!
Gu Ming had a massive headache.
Over the past one month, he had spent a great deal of effort to release the members of the Righteous Factions who had been caught for harassing his territory.
Fortunately, those people were by no means from famous or great sects; they were just small-fry characters from minor sects, and letting them go would not have any impact.
But the Divine Maiden was different. Not only did she hail from a prestigious sect, but the power behind her, the Divine Maiden Palace, was one of the five major powers of the Righteous Path Alliance. It held absolute authority within the alliance.
If he were to release the Divine Maiden easily, it would likely arouse the suspicion of everyone in the Demon Cult. At that time, his career as a mole would probably come to an end.
“How was she captured?” Gu Ming asked.
“Lord Heavenly King, she walked into the Triple Illusion Formation set by your lordship. She was trapped and unable to escape until she exhausted her Spiritual Energy. Then, Lord Mu captured her and locked her in the Great Prison,” the subordinate replied.
The Triple Illusion Formation?!!
Suddenly, Gu Ming realized.
The Triple Illusion Formation was a defensive formation. It could not kill enemies; it could only trap them. Once someone entered the formation, they would fall under the attack of illusions until their Spiritual Qi was exhausted.
Although the Triple Illusion Formation was strong at trapping enemies, its weakness was also obvious. It consumed a massive amount of Spirit Stones. Just activating it required 10,000 top-grade Spirit Stones, and every 1 hour, it would consume another 10,000.
Therefore, that formation was a gold-swallowing beast. Generally speaking, it would not be activated unless absolutely necessary.
For this reason, Gu Ming had placed the formation in a very remote and secret location as one of his last resorts.
He had not expected that while no one had fallen for it over the past month, the Divine Maiden of the Divine Maiden Palace would actually get caught.
‘Sigh, isn’t this just making my undercover mission harder?’
Gu Ming had a massive headache, and for a moment, he did not know how to release the Divine Maiden.
“I understand. You may leave.”
With a wave of his hand, Gu Ming dismissed the reporting subordinate.
“Yes.”
The subordinate stood up, bowed, and turned to walk out of the hall.
The hall returned to its previous coldness. Gu Ming slumped on his throne, staring at the magnificent ceiling as a trace of fatigue flashed across his eyes.
“In any case, I should go take a look first,” he whispered softly.
Rising from his throne, Gu Ming walked out of the hall.
The Great Prison was located outside the Royal City, 20 kilometers away.
It was an extremely remote place where the surrounding area was uninhabited. Behind it lay the Gobi Desert, and in front was the Royal City. If one walked along either the left or right sides, they would only end up in the territories of the other Heavenly Kings of the Demon Cult.
Therefore, whether one wanted to escape or stage a prison break, it was impossible to leave the Demon Cult’s sphere of influence in a short time.
Gu Ming rode in a carriage and left the Royal City.
After a bumpy journey, the carriage finally arrived at the gate of the Great Prison. As soon as it arrived, the soldiers of the prison lined up in a neat formation to welcome their Heavenly King.
As Gu Ming stepped down from the carriage, he heard the loud voices of the soldiers: “Greetings, Heavenly King.”
Then, the soldiers all knelt on one knee, placing their hands over their chests and bowing their heads.
“Rise.”
Gu Ming waved his hand, allowing the soldiers to stand up, before he strode into the prison.
Upon entering the Great Prison, Gu Ming had the head jailer lead the way, heading straight for the cell where the Divine Maiden was being held.
