An Ling returned to the wooden house, retrieved the iron ore, and added it to the furnace.
**[Quantity: 50/50]**
**[Time: 29 minutes 58 seconds]**
The information displayed was simple and clear. The furnace’s maximum capacity was fifty ores, and it took thirty minutes to smelt one. This meant it would take 25 hours to finish the entire batch.
To fully smelt all the iron ore in the furnace, it would take more than one day, and during that time, the fuel could not stop burning.
“It seems smelting is a massive project,” An Ling said. “I’m just afraid the coal will burn out before the ore is even finished.” She added twenty-five pieces of coal into the furnace and left it alone.
By the time she woke up tomorrow, a good amount should be smelted.
Wait, An Ling still had the Heavenly Fortune blessing today. It was currently 6:00 PM, and she could smelt about twelve iron ores before midnight. She had to craft a weapon before then to see the effect of this blessing.
If the blessing changed tomorrow, she would be at a huge loss.
Returning to the cabin, An Ling was in no hurry to start cooking. Since she planned to stay up a bit tonight, it was fine to eat later.
She stood before the workbench and looked at the equipment unlocked by the iron ore.
They were: Helmet, Breastplate, Leggings, and Cloak.
This was a set of heavy iron armor, and crafting each piece would grant her two points. In the images, the armor didn’t look cumbersome; wearing it would make one look like a fully armed soldier from ancient times.
But what was the point of this armor?
An Ling understood. This was likely intended for ordinary people. Not everyone could become an Ability User, and the system gave ordinary people a way to survive by allowing them to craft armor from ore.
As for weapons, the selection was even more comprehensive: sabers, swords, hammers, shields, bows, and spears. There was even a two-handed sword.
These weapons made of iron looked significantly stronger than those made of flint, horns, antlers, or scrap metal.
In addition, there were tools like pickaxes and axes. Their efficiency would surely be many times higher than those made of flint.
If she crafted the entire set, she would earn nearly 30 points, but it would require at least several hundred iron ores—something that couldn’t be done in a short time.
An Ling didn’t plan on crafting unnecessary items. Only three things were useful to her: a pickaxe, an axe, and a sword.
Indeed, she wanted to use the remaining time to forge a sword to use as her primary weapon.
She couldn’t let her sword skills go to waste, nor could she let her class become a mere decoration.
It was the perfect time to test the new blessing. As for the two tools, there wasn’t enough time, and they weren’t strictly necessary on the survival island for now. She would have to wait until her next return.
As An Ling looked at the newly unlocked tools, she remembered that she now had a furnace, meaning the Yellow Clay might finally have a use.
But reality hit her like a slap to the face. The Yellow Clay could not be placed in the furnace. Firing clay required a different building.
“Whatever, I’ll deal with that later.”
An Ling returned to the cabin and began preparing dinner. With plenty of time tonight, she could afford a more lavish meal.
Grouper soup, fried ribbonfish segments, and steamed buns paired with chili sauce—a sumptuous dinner was ready in less than an hour.
She ate with great relish. The fish in this sea were very strange, looking like they had grown however they pleased.
As a landlubber from an inland city who had never seen the ocean, An Ling didn’t actually know how to eat most of these fish. Thus, her only option was to turn them into soup.
After finishing dinner and washing the dishes, she spent some time reading the survivors’ chat to pass the time.
***
Before she knew it, the time had finally reached 11:30 PM. An Ling closed the chat and walked out of the wooden house to check the progress of the furnace.
Eleven iron ingots lay quietly on the grass. The ingots were square and rectangular, looking like small bricks with smooth, clean surfaces free of any impurities.
An iron sword required only ten iron ingots, so An Ling now had more than enough.
She went to the workbench and clicked on the module for the iron sword.
**[Iron Sword: Wards off evil, incredibly sharp, and the best choice for slashing people! Materials required: Iron Ingot x 10, Rope x 5, Gauze x 1. Points Gained: 2]**
The materials were sufficient, but the option remained grayed out. ‘What’s going on?’ An Ling clicked on it, and a prompt immediately popped up.
**[A Forging Table is required to craft the Iron Sword!]**
**[Forging Table: Workbench x 1, Enhancement Card x 1]**
An Ling: “…”
“Fine, fine. You’re really playing me like this, aren’t you? You won’t even leave me a single card.” Helpless, she ultimately chose to enhance the workbench first.
Because it was an enhancement, she did not receive any points.
Now, the craft button finally lit up. As An Ling’s finger touched it, a series of prompts appeared.
**[With the blessing of Heavenly Fortune, the Common Iron Sword has been upgraded to an Excellent Iron Sword! Damage increased.]**
**[With the blessing of Heavenly Fortune, the Excellent Iron Sword has been upgraded to a Fine Iron Sword! It cuts through iron like butter.]**
**[With the blessing of Heavenly Fortune, the Fine Iron Sword has been upgraded to an Epic Iron Sword! One trait added.]**
**[With the blessing of Heavenly Fortune, the Epic Iron Sword has been upgraded to a Legendary Iron Sword!! Two traits added.]**
“Whoa, a Golden Legend!” A golden-glowing iron sword instantly appeared before An Ling.
The sword gleamed with a cold light. The entire blade was about 1 meter long, featuring beautiful patterns on the surface. The hilt was wrapped in layers of rope, making it look exquisite.
The sword was beautiful—a traditional Chinese-style straight sword that An Ling liked, rather than a Western one-handed sword. The only minor flaw was that it didn’t come with a scabbard.
Its three traits were: Sharpness, Bleeding, and Evil Slaying.
Sharpness: It could cut through a hair or slice through iron like butter. It wasn’t an exaggeration at all. Even An Ling was stunned; it was the sharpest sword she had ever seen.
In her memory, only a butcher’s cleaver would give off such a lethal feeling.
As for Bleeding, it likely meant wounds would not heal easily. She wasn’t foolish enough to test it on herself.
The final trait was likely related to dealing with monsters, though the specific effect was unknown.
But it was a Golden Legend. At least at the tier of iron weaponry, this sword was the absolute pinnacle.
**[First trigger of maximum level Heavenly Fortune detected. You have received one random Prop Card.]**
The Golden Legend had triggered the pendant’s achievement system, granting An Ling another reward.
She picked it up and saw it was a pajama Prop Card.
After An Ling used it, a set of pink rabbit pajamas appeared before her. The top even had a hood with two fuzzy long ears, looking very cute.
“Not bad.” She nodded, placed the clothes on the bed, and gave the iron sword a few test swings.
The blade was very light. The moment she gripped it, she felt an incredible sense of familiarity, as if she had handled swords her entire life, even though she had never touched one before.
After performing a few elegant sword flourishes, An Ling used her ability to control it. The sensation was indescribably smooth!
The iron sword flew back and forth around her, following her will. It was far more effortless than when she controlled any other object with her ability.
‘No wonder it’s called a Swordmaster!’
