Chapter 4: Ye Jin is Dead?

Ye Jin rubbed his aching head, not knowing when he had fallen asleep again.

This time, his sleep had been uncomfortable as well. He pulled back the covers and, enduring the pain in his feet, slowly supported himself as he climbed out of bed.

Leaning against the wall, he opened the bedroom door, wanting to find Elder Sister.

However, after walking through the house for a long time, he didn’t see Elder Sister anywhere. Was she not home?

Had she gone out for something? Or had he simply not found her yet?

The pain radiating from his ankles made him lose the will to keep searching. Enduring the agony once more, he reached the living room and slumped down onto the sofa.

Looking down, he saw that the wounds on his ankles, which had originally scabbed over, were now oozing bright red liquid again.

Ye Jin bit his crimson lip and grabbed a tissue from the nearby table. He wiped the blood away bit by bit until it stopped flowing before he finally ceased his movements!

As time passed, he gradually ignored the pain in his ankles. He picked up a nearby throw pillow, hugged it to his chest while resting his chin on it, and stared blankly in one direction!

That was the direction of the front door. If he opened that door, he should be able to walk out of here.

But he remembered that this house was supposed to be in the mountains. It was a Mountain Villa, and there was nothing else around except for this single building!

What would be the use of going out?

He couldn’t figure out the answer to that question, but staying here indefinitely made him feel uneasy.

Ultimately, he gritted his teeth and forced himself to stand, supporting his weight as he walked toward the door!

Ye Jin moved his feet slowly. Perhaps because he was being careful this time, the wounds on his ankles did not tear open again, but it still took him a long time to reach the entrance!

His fingers rested on the door handle. The heavy door could be pushed open with just a little bit of force!

“Click!”

But before he could even turn the handle, the sound of a lock being toggled rang out. He subconsciously took a step back, but the movement was too sudden. A sharp pain shot through his ankle, and unable to keep his balance, he fell directly to the floor!

The door was slowly pushed open. Ye Moran’s figure was silhouetted against the light, making it impossible to see the expression on her face. She stood there like a wall, blocking his every path!

“Elder Sister?”

Ye Jin called out, his tone revealing a hint of grievance.

Ye Moran merely stood there, her eyes lowered and her fists clenched tightly. A hidden, uncontrollable frenzy flickered within her narrowed eyes!

“Elder Sister, my foot hurts…”

Seeing that Elder Sister remained indifferent, Ye Jin felt even more wronged. Tears quickly welled up in his eyes, and his small mouth was pursed, looking as if he might burst into tears at any moment!

Watching the little fellow in this state, Ye Moran’s heart began to thud wildly. A strange heat inexplicably surged through her body!

Her breathing grew increasingly ragged, and her mind was filled with nothing but dark thoughts!

She wanted so badly to pin him down…, fiercely, fiercely…

The sight of Ye Jin crying made her unable to stop imagining a scene where Ye Jin wept and begged her, telling her not to do it.

Her breathing became even more rapid, like a volcano about to erupt, ready to burn her rationality to ashes at any moment!

“Elder Sister?”

Ye Jin’s second call pulled her back from her fantasies and into reality!

No, not now. If it happened now, the little guy would definitely fear her, hate her, and despise her!

She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. When she opened them again, she had hidden all of her emotions!

She walked over and gently stroked the little fellow’s head!

“Why are you running around? Didn’t I tell you to rest well in your room?”

“Elder Sister, I wanted to find you, but I couldn’t. So I thought about going outside to look for you.”

Ye Jin lowered his head. Even though he had a reason for his explanation, he still felt that he was being disobedient!

Elder Sister had indeed told him to stay put and not run around, yet he had done it anyway. He had even caused his wounds to reopen and bleed a lot.

He suddenly felt like he was a troublemaker who had brought nothing but problems to Elder Sister.

“Why are you crying?”

Ye Jin snapped out of it and felt the moisture on his cheeks. Only then did he realize he was crying.

“It’s okay. Cry if you want to. I know you’ve suffered a lot of grievances. Don’t be afraid, Elder Sister is here!”

Ye Moran’s voice was gentle as she reached out to wipe away his tears. Her eyes looked at him with softness and affection.

Ye Jin could no longer control his tears. For so long, he had felt truly wronged. He had clearly done nothing, yet everyone believed he was the culprit!

He felt so much grievance and desperately wanted someone to vent to. He had even been abandoned by his mother and father. Ye Father and Ye Mother didn’t want him anymore!

Although he wasn’t their biological child to begin with, he had lived with them for so long and had been by their side since he was a child. Even if they weren’t his real parents, he was still heartbroken!

Ye Moran gently stroked Ye Jin’s head, over and over again, as if comforting a child who had been reduced to tears because someone stole their candy!

Ye Jin eventually seemed to cry himself out, falling asleep in her arms.

She carried Ye Jin back to the room, placed him on the bed, and sat by his side watching him.

Looking at the small person on the bed, she saw that the fair skin around his eyes was slightly flushed from crying. His pink lips trembled with his breath. The more she looked, the more she couldn’t resist the urge to do something!

But in the end, she did nothing and left the room!

Today, she was wearing a very formal suit. In the past, she rarely wore such suits, but today was a very special day!

She drove the car away from the secluded Mountain Villa once again. After driving a short distance, the car finally arrived at its destination!

A beautifully scenic Cemetery!

By this time, many people had gathered at the Cemetery. Most of them were people she knew well, including her parents and Jiang Yu.

Jiang Yu stood to one side with a cold expression, as if everything happening around him had nothing to do with him. His indifferent eyes bore a striking resemblance to Ye Moran’s.

However, Ye Moran didn’t spare him a second glance. Instead, she walked toward a middle-aged couple.

“Father, Mother, I’m here!”

“Moran, you… you’re here…”

The middle-aged woman’s tone was sorrowful. The man beside her supported her, his expression also masking a profound sadness!

“Moran, go offer a stick of incense to Jin’er. I’ll take care of your mother here.”

The middle-aged man spoke, then helped the woman walk to a nearby bench to sit down.

Ye Moran looked at the surrounding people, picked up the incense, lit it, and offered three sticks before the tombstone!

And on that tombstone was the image of Ye Jin’s bright, smiling face.

“Waaaah, it’s our fault for hurting Jin’er. Why was he so unable to see reason?”

“Even if he wasn’t our child, I already treated him like my own son. It’s all my fault!”

Nearby, the middle-aged woman’s crying reached them. Ye Moran thought for a moment and felt she should do something!

She stood up, walked to Ye Mother’s side, knelt down, and slowly grasped Ye Mother’s hands.

“Mother, you… don’t be too sad.”

Her tone betrayed a hint of stiffness. Aside from comforting Ye Jin, she always felt a sense of awkwardness when dealing with others.

Ye Mother also knew that her daughter had never been good at expressing emotions since she was a child. Seeing her daughter comfort her like this actually made her feel quite satisfied!

Ye Mother reached out and squeezed her daughter’s hand back, patting it twice!

“I know you’re hurting inside too. You and Ye Jin have had the best relationship since you were small. He was always clinging to you. Now that he’s gone, you must be the one who is the most heartbroken!”

“I’ll give you a vacation for the next few days. Go and get some good rest. I’ll keep an eye on the Ye Family Company for you.”

Ye Moran remained silent for a moment before giving a low response. “Alright!”
