Lin Luan took the elevator and went straight to the top floor of the office building where Youwan Entertainment was located.
Outside Xià WÇŽn Yú’s office was the secretariat, and further inside was her grand, imposing office. General matters were typically handled by the secretaries first; only if they couldn’t resolve an issue would it be handed over to Xià WÇŽn Yú for a decision.
As Lin Luan stepped out of the elevator and approached the area, his path was blocked by two tall security guards. One looked as sturdy as The Rock (Dwayne Johnson), while the other appeared more refined.
“Sir, who are you looking for?” the burly guard asked. He wore sunglasses and had an earpiece tucked into his ear.
“I’m here to see General Manager Xia,” Lin Luan said.
“Do you have an appointment?” the leaner guard asked in a professional tone, his arm slightly raised in a blocking motion.
An appointment?
Lin Luan paused for a moment. He hadn’t even realized he needed an appointment; whenever he went to see Su Jin, he never required one.
“I don’t have an appointment,” Lin Luan replied truthfully. “But I have an urgent matter that requires General Manager Xia’s immediate attention. It’s regarding her artist, Shen Yu…”
“I’m sorry, sir,” the guard interrupted. “You cannot see General Manager Xia without an appointment. Please understand and leave immediately.”
As he spoke, he took a step forward, adopting a forceful posture to escort Lin Luan out.
Lin Luan knew that trying to force his way in wasn’t the answer, but he had no intention of turning back. His mind raced as he thought of a strategy. Just as the guard’s hand was about to touch his arm, the leaner guard stopped his colleague.
“Wait a second…”
The burly guard turned back, confusion written on his face. The lean guard’s brow furrowed slightly as he whispered a few words into his colleague’s ear before turning back to Lin Luan.
“Sir, may I ask your name…?”
“My name is Lin Luan.”
Lin Luan answered with some confusion.
The moment the name Lin Luan left his lips, the guard who had been acting so aggressively suddenly froze. He studied Lin Luan carefully, as if confirming something.
“You… You are Mr. Lin Luan?” The guard’s tone did a complete 180-degree turn, becoming exceptionally polite. “Please wait a moment. I will report to General Manager Xia immediately!”
Having said that, he no longer blocked the path. He pressed his hand to his earpiece and began communicating in a low voice.
“Mr. Lin, General Manager Xia says you may enter. I’m very sorry for wasting your time. Please, come in.” The guard respectfully stepped aside and pushed open the heavy solid wood door to the office.
Lin Luan stepped inside, and the door closed softly behind him.
The secretariat was empty. Lin Luan walked up to Xià Wǎn Yú’s heavy office door and knocked.
“Come in.”
Xià Wǎn Yú’s office was incredibly spacious and luxurious. A full wall of floor-to-ceiling windows offered a view of the bustling cityscape. She was currently sitting with her back to the door in a wide executive chair, seemingly admiring the scenery.
Upon hearing the footsteps, the chair slowly rotated around.
Today, Xià Wǎn Yú wore a red skirt suit that made her skin look as white as snow, giving off an overwhelming aura of authority. She held a glass of red wine in her hand, gently swirling it.
“What brings you here? Miss Shen Yu’s Agent?”
Xià Wǎn Yú asked with feigned confusion.
Lin Luan stood before the chair in front of her desk. Instead of sitting, he went straight to the point.
“General Manager Xia, it seems you haven’t fulfilled the promise you made to us. The track that was supposed to use the ‘Veteran Leading a Newcomer’ strategy to promote Shen Yu ended up only featuring Teacher Tang’s voice. Why is that? I need an explanation.”
“Oh? Is that so?” Xià WÇŽn Yú raised an eyebrow slightly and set down her wine glass.
“Stop acting,” Lin Luan said with dissatisfaction. “You definitely know about this.”
Xià WÇŽn Yú didn’t answer. She stood up, walked around the large desk, and approached Lin Luan with an elegant, feline gait.
“Don’t be in such a hurry, Agent Lin. Sit.” She walked over to Lin Luan’s side and placed a hand lightly on his shoulder, applying a bit of pressure to signal him to sit down.
Her fingers, adorned with bright red nail polish, brushed against his neck as if by accident.
Lin Luan felt his body being pressed down slightly and sat as instructed, but he turned his body to push her hand away.
Xià WÇŽn Yú didn’t seem to mind. Instead, she chuckled and leaned against the edge of the desk. One of her legs, encased in black silk stockings, swayed gently, and the tip of her high heel tapped against Lin Luan’s knee.
She leaned down, picked up a document from the desk, and held it out to him.
“This is an explanation regarding the matter. Why don’t you take a look…?”
Lin Luan reached out to take the document, but just as he was about to open it, Xià Wǎn Yú’s hand climbed onto the back of his.
“Will you be able to understand it? Do you need me to teach you~?”
Xià WÇŽn Yú’s voice whispered in his ear. Lin Luan hadn’t even realized when she had suddenly leaned in so close; her soft chest was now pressed tightly against his arm.
Lin Luan quickly pulled his hand back and stood up again.
“General Manager Xia, I think it’s better if we keep an appropriate distance while we discuss business.”
“What’s wrong? Is Agent Lin really that stiff?” Xià WÇŽn Yú chuckled. Instead of backing away, she leaned even closer, a heavy scent of perfume enveloping him.
She reached out, wanting to remove the scarf from Lin Luan’s neck.
“This scarf… it doesn’t seem to match your status. It seems Agent Lin doesn’t usually pay attention to these details. Do you want me to find a stylist—”
“That’s not necessary!” Lin Luan stepped back abruptly to create distance between them. “General Manager Xia, I hope we can discuss Shen Yu’s issue. If you continue like this, I don’t think there’s any point in continuing our conversation.”
His patience had clearly reached its limit.
Watching his indignant but restrained expression, a flash of triumphant pleasure crossed Xià Wǎn Yú’s eyes. She spoke with a look of innocence:
“Why would Agent Lin say such things? Am I not just showing concern for my partner?” Xià WÇŽn Yú threw up her hands and sat back in her executive chair, her tone becoming suggestive. “Fine then. How exactly do you want to communicate ‘deeply’ with me? You tell me.”
“I want you to give Shen Yu the company resources as normal. That is enough,” Lin Luan said coldly.
“Oh? That’s possible, but you have to agree to one condition.” Xià WÇŽn Yú turned slightly more serious.
“What condition?”
“Sleep with me.”
Lin Luan froze when he heard those words.
What did she mean? What was the meaning of this? Was she really being this blunt?
“I… I don’t understand what you mean, General Manager Xia.” Lin Luan closed his eyes and rubbed his forehead. “Am I to take those words as an attempt to use the casting couch on me?”
Xià Wǎn Yú was momentarily speechless. She had never seen a man respond so calmly.
The movies she usually watched didn’t play out like this! Although this was the first time she was experimenting like this on a man in real life… reality and movies should be more or less the same, right?
Right?
Like hell they were!
In movies, those men would have been ravenous the moment they heard that phrase. How could this Lin Luan say such a thing with such total composure?!
