He Shuliu heard Yu Yan’s answer, his pupils narrowing like a cat’s before curving into a beautiful arc.
“I knew it.” He sighed in satisfaction, gently nuzzling her cheek. “I just knew you would believe me………………”
How could this guy be so easy to fool?
Yu Yan felt like laughing, but there was also a strange emptiness deep in her heart.
She lifted her hand and placed it on He Shuliu’s face, trying to dispel this odd feeling.
He Shuliu seemed to enjoy her touch.
“Yan Yan,” he lowered his head and kissed the tip of Yu Yan’s nose, his voice slightly husky, “touch me a little more.”
Yu Yan’s face grew a little hot.
She asked softly, “Where?”
“Anywhere is fine.”
So easy to satisfy……………..
Yu Yan raised her hand and tentatively brushed his lower back.
The moment her fingertips touched his skin, he arched his waist as if electrified, his whole body lowering slightly and leaning towards her—
—this means he likes it.
Yu Yan understood instantly. She lifted the hem of his shirt, exposing a section of his pale, lean waist, and continued exploring upwards.
He Shuliu began to kiss her cheeks, earlobes, and the corners of her lips.
His kisses were dense, his lips soft and a bit cool, carrying a hint of watermelon’s fresh sweetness, marking her body like a stamp.
Yu Yan’s hand followed the lines of his back, moving upward.
She had to admit, although his body temperature was abnormally low now, in this season, holding him actually felt more comfortable and pleasant to the touch than usual.
She wondered what it would be like to hold him in winter.
Yu Yan didn’t realize how far her thoughts had drifted. Her fingers were inching upward when suddenly He Shuliu gently bit her neck.
“Go lower,” he murmured stickily against her neck.
Lower? Where else did he want her to go?
Yu Yan’s fingertips trembled slightly as she snapped back to her senses: “Didn’t the doctor say you’re weak? You should get some proper rest and stop thinking about all this nonsense.”
He Shuliu kept kissing down her neck: “The doctor also said… this won’t have any effect…..”
“I don’t believe it.” Yu Yan pushed him away and stood up from the Living Room sofa.
He Shuliu fell back onto the sofa from her push, his loose shirt lifting up, revealing glimpses of tight muscles on his waist and abdomen.
“Yan Yan………………” He looked at her pitifully, as if he would burst into tears if she disagreed.
Yu Yan’s gaze was cold: “If you pester me again, you’re not sleeping with me tonight.”
He Shuliu immediately fell quiet.
Yu Yan picked up the watermelon and decisively turned into the Bedroom.
He Shuliu lay tormented on the sofa, staring helplessly at the ceiling, letting out a long sigh and muttering softly, only loud enough for himself to hear.
“If I’d known, I wouldn’t have mentioned being weak……”
The next few days passed relatively peacefully.
The Police did not come looking for He Shuliu again, and He Shuliu didn’t show any other symptoms, which made Yu Yan secretly breathe a sigh of relief.
She began to consider how to proceed with the breakup.
Just like she told Song Jianing, this time she would take a gentle approach, trying to minimize He Shuliu’s resistance to the breakup.
The first step was to get He Shuliu to adjust his focus in life, not to center everything around her.
Unlike her, He Shuliu was two years younger, just finished his master’s degree this year, and had been staying at Home looking after her and revolving around her since they moved in together, never really having worked.
With his education, it would actually be quite easy for him to find a decent job.
But he wasn’t interested in any of those jobs, and his family was wealthy, so Yu Yan had never pushed the matter.
But now, Yu Yan felt it was time for him to find a job.
Not for the money—after all, he didn’t lack money—but to help him shift his attention, make new friends and social circles, and enrich his own life.
Once he adapted to a new life, naturally the attention he gave her would lessen. If he happened to meet a girl he liked even more, breaking up with her wouldn’t be impossible……………….
The more Yu Yan thought about it, the better the idea seemed. That evening, she brought it up with He Shuliu.
“Looking for a job?” He Shuliu peeled a shrimp and placed it in her bowl. “You want me to get a job?”
“It’s not that I want it, I just think you need a job.” Yu Yan said seriously, “If you don’t Work for a long time, you’ll become disconnected from society.”
“Is that so……” He Shuliu seemed thoughtful. “Then what kind of job do you want me to look for?”
“Any job is fine,” Yu Yan said, “just pick one you like.”
He Shuliu glanced at her, asking with interest, “Then can I work at your Company?”
“No.” Yu Yan refused immediately, but worried he’d overthink, so she added, “Our Company forbids office romance, and there’s no recruitment lately anyway.”
“Alright.” He Shuliu looked disappointed, then returned to focusing on peeling Shrimp.
Yu Yan didn’t know if he took her advice to heart.
If he really wanted to work at her Company… it wouldn’t hurt to help him ask around?
As long as they weren’t in the same Department, right?
Yu Yan decided to ask the Human Resources Department the next day.
The next day, she grabbed the Coffee she’d bought and was about to step into the Elevator when Lin Rang walked over from the other side.
Why did she keep running into this nutcase?
Yu Yan had a terrible impression of him and immediately turned to walk away.
But Lin Rang called out to her: “Yu Yan!”
Yu Yan: “…”
With people coming and going, it would be awkward to pretend she didn’t hear, so she turned and forced a businesslike smile: “Oh, it’s you. Did you need something?”
“It’s about what I mentioned to you last time. Do you have a moment now?” Lin Rang looked very sincere, “It won’t take up your Lunch Break.”
What a troublesome guy…
Yu Yan sighed inwardly and said reluctantly, “Alright.”
She followed Lin Rang back to his desk. It was Lunch Break, so there weren’t many people around. Lin Rang diligently pulled up a chair for her and brought over some snacks.
“Thank you, but I’m not hungry.” Yu Yan waved her hand, her tone polite but distant. “If you have something to ask, just say it. I have things to do later.”
Lin Rang glanced around, making sure no one was watching, then lowered his voice: “I know what’s been bothering you lately.”
Yu Yan frowned, “I don’t understand what you mean.”
“You want to break up with your boyfriend, but he keeps pestering you and you don’t know how to get rid of him, right?” Lin Rang put on a sympathetic face.
“Sorry, I happened to overhear your phone call that day.”
Yu Yan’s frown deepened.
She never expected that even a simple phone call would be overheard and used against her like this.
So there was no real work issue; his so-called request for advice was just an excuse to approach her?
What exactly was he up to?
Yu Yan’s expression grew unpleasant: “That’s none of your business, is it?”
“Technically, it isn’t, but I can help you.” Lin Rang looked utterly sincere.
“Don’t worry, I have no intention of taking advantage of your situation, I just really empathize with what you’re going through, and I understand how hard it is…………………”
“Sorry, I’m not in any difficulty, nor do I need your help.” Yu Yan coldly cut him off.
“This is between me and my boyfriend, it doesn’t need an outsider’s interference, and besides, we’re not even close.”
“Please don’t come to me again in the future, thank you.”
With that, she ignored Lin Rang’s attempt to stop her and got up to leave.
A few colleagues not far away heard the commotion and threw curious glances at Lin Rang.
Lin Rang smiled at them awkwardly, wanting to chase after Yu Yan but not daring to, so he could only sit back down and act as if nothing happened.
Looking at the snacks on his desk, all he felt was utter humiliation.
That Yu girl really didn’t know what was good for her.
They were colleagues in the same Department, he was just trying to help her out of kindness, and not only did she not appreciate it, but she even spoke to him so harshly, not leaving him any face at all…………………
The more Lin Rang thought about it, the angrier he got. He grabbed a wad of scrap paper, crumpled it into a ball, and threw it out fiercely.
If she didn’t appreciate his kindness, then she shouldn’t blame him for being rude.
He swore, she would regret it very soon.
