On that vast land shrouded in autumn, a desolate atmosphere spread quietly like a thin veil.
The autumn wind, carrying traces of chill, wove between mountains and valleys, dyeing the earth’s colors into deep gold and muted reddish-brown.
The Empire, having weathered countless storms through the long river of years, had gained invaluable experience amid the turmoil and upheaval of the past half-month.
It was a time filled with challenges and reflection. Every setback struck like a heavy hammer, urging the Empire’s leaders to re-examine their situation and the path ahead.
Now, in this bleak autumn season, the Empire made a momentous decision— to join hands with the leaders of the Elves and Dwarvenkind, and together form the “Federation Assembly”.
The Elves were renowned for their keen senses and extraordinary mastery of natural magic.
They dwelled deep within tranquil and mysterious forests, living in harmony with nature and possessing unique insights into the land’s secrets.
Dwarvenkind, on the other hand, were famed for their superb craftsmanship and indomitable spirit.
They carved magnificent underground kingdoms in the heart of mountains, forging peerless weapons and artifacts. Their wisdom and strength were not to be underestimated.
When the Empire’s envoys stepped onto the mist-laden forest paths of the Elves, the Elves watched these outsiders with wary yet curious eyes.
However, after hearing the Empire’s sincerity and vision for unity, the Elders of the Elvenkind held careful deliberations and ultimately decided to send Wise Ones and warriors to join this historic alliance.
Meanwhile, in the brightly lit underground workshops of Dwarvenkind, Dwarves sat around blazing forges, listening intently to the Empire’s envoys, thoughtful expressions etched on their timeworn faces.
After weighing the pros and cons, the Chiefs of Dwarvenkind nodded in agreement, willing to advance side by side with the Empire and the Elves.
And so, on a crisp autumn day, the plaza before the Imperial palace was adorned with fluttering banners, and representatives of all races gathered.
Emperor Esonia of the Empire stood imposingly on the high platform, clad in a splendid King’s Robe. Beside him stood the Elven Clan Leader, whose flowing Green Robe danced in the breeze like a spirit of the forest; on the other side stood the Chief of Dwarvenkind, his sturdy Armor and Battle Axe in hand proclaiming Dwarven might and resilience.
The “Federation Assembly” was formally declared established. At this moment, it was as if the gears of fate began a new turn.
Under the eyes of all, the leaders of each race solemnly signed the pact of unity, their faces reflecting both hope for the future and the weight of unknown challenges.
The War of Subjugation against the Demon Lord began anew, unfolding under the anticipation and unease of the Empire and its many allies.
—
The first rays of morning sunlight had yet to fully dispel the gloom over the Despair Frontier, yet the sprawling Coalition Army Camp, stretching for dozens of miles, was already alive with voices and fluttering banners.
The Imperial Gryphon Banner, Elven Leaf Banner, Dwarven Warhammer Banner of the Dwarven Royal Court, and flags of other kingdoms and Free City-States all waved together in the piercing morning wind, merging into a torrent of hope and determination.
Luo Ling stood atop the main platform of the coalition’s formation, clad in the “Starlight Battle Armor” meticulously crafted by the Royal Artisan of the Empire, gripping the ancient longsword “Dawnbringer” tightly in his hand.
His gaze was sharp as an eagle, sweeping over the ranks of soldiers below.
On their faces was etched a longing for peace and a hidden fear of the unknown.
This was not just a war— it was a gamble for survival.
“Soldiers!”
Luo Ling’s voice echoed across the entire Frontline, amplified by a magical Amplification Device:
“The land beneath our feet was once a home of prosperity and peace. Now, it’s tainted by shadows, defiled by evil! The Demon Lord’s minions rampage, countless innocent lives crying out in agony! Today, we stand not for conquest, but for protection! For our families, our homeland, and the belief that light will one day drive away the darkness!”
“Roar!!!”
A tidal wave of shouts responded, soldiers raising their weapons as passion burned in their chests.
“Attack!!”
At Luo Ling’s command, the triumphant blare of war horns pierced the sky.
The siege engines, long prepared, were the first to unleash their assault.
Massive catapults hurled blazing boulders and explosive crystals toward the distant Black Fortress occupied by the Demon Army— the first defensive line outside the Palace of Ten Thousand Nightmares, a bastion forged of twisted stone and dark magic.
Next, countless Mage Phalanxes chanted in unison, unleashing a rain of Elemental Magic like meteor showers across the sky, crashing into the Bastion with deafening thunder and dazzling light.
“Boom! Boom! Boom!”
Smoke and stone shards filled the air.
Under the coalition’s overwhelming firepower, cracks soon spread across the seemingly unbreakable Dark Bastion.
“Charge!”
The front-line commander’s roar rang out, and the Heavy Infantry Phalanx, unable to wait any longer, surged forward like a tide of steel, their heavy steps unyielding as they pressed through scattered enemy resistance toward the crumbling Bastion.
Their giant shields formed an impenetrable Shield Wall, with Spears like a forest pointing toward the enemy.
At the outset, the battle seemed to progress more smoothly than expected.
With superior numbers, excellent equipment, and soaring morale, the coalition forces surged against the Demon Army’s defenses like waves.
At last, the Dark Bastion, battered by endless bombardment and infantry assaults, gave a groaning collapse.
“We’ve broken through! We broke through!”
The soldiers erupted in thunderous cheers, morale surging as they poured through the breach to clash with the defending Demon Army.
Luo Ling commanded from the center, calmly observing the battlefield and issuing orders.
Elven archers provided precise long-range support from the rear, while Dwarven warriors broke openings in the front like moving fortresses.
Yet Luo Ling’s brows never fully relaxed.
The resistance of this first line seemed… too weak?
Though it inflicted some casualties on the coalition, it fell short of what was expected from the Demon Lord’s main force.
Behind this quiet, it felt as if even greater malice and terrifying traps were lurking in the shadows.
