Is the Young Lady actually the Canary?
A terrifying thought flashed through Su Mengdie’s mind, but she quickly dismissed it.
She thought it over carefully and felt it didn’t really make sense.
Just now, when the Young Lady heard that word, she didn’t react at all, only thinking about eating her Cake.
Was that really how a Canary should behave?
That was pure gluttony!
“Young Lady, stop eating! Do you have any idea how hard it is for me to maintain this figure?”
Seeing Penelope eating even more aggressively, Su Mengdie couldn’t care less about the Canary for the moment and hurriedly snatched the Cake from in front of her.
If the Young Lady kept eating like this, she was afraid her own body would gain ten pounds in a single day.
“Hey, hey, hey~! Su Mengdie, aren’t you going too far?”
“When I was the Young Lady, you wouldn’t let me eat this, wouldn’t let me eat that. Now I’m just a Maid, and you’re still bossing me around!”
It’s Su Mengdie’s problem if it’s hard for Su Mengdie.
What did that have to do with her?
As long as her own body was fine, that was all that mattered.
Relying on her superior strength, Penelope quickly snatched the Cake back from Su Mengdie.
“Young Lady, have you ever seen a Maid who disobeys her master’s orders and even dares to snatch things from her master in broad daylight, hmm~?”
Imitating the Young Lady’s style, Su Mengdie raised her brow angrily.
She didn’t know if the Young Lady had ever seen such a Maid, but Su Mengdie definitely hadn’t.
A Maid like this was no ordinary Maid.
Theoretically, she should be punched—hard.
But as a Magical Girl, should she really unleash her full power on an ordinary citizen over a Cake?
If word got out, that would be bad.
It’s not like she couldn’t win!
“Su Mengdie, what’s yours is mine. If I’m taking my own things, how is that called stealing?”
Seeing Su Mengdie frustrated and helpless, a victorious smile appeared on Penelope’s face as she elegantly cut another piece of Cake and popped it in her mouth.
In her view, Su Mengdie already at her wit’s end, even trying to reason with her, the spoiled princess.
Wasn’t that like a scholar arguing with a soldier—reason just wouldn’t work?
“Young Lady, I’m not fighting with you, but could you at least pay some attention to your image? Right now you’re using my body to embarrass yourself. It’s your own dignity you’re ruining! What if a Tabloid Reporter saw and put it in the papers? I wouldn’t care, but when we switch back, how will you face people?”
Su Mengdie was truly thinking for Penelope’s sake, with not a hint of selfishness.
No matter how spoiled Penelope was, she was still the Jinzhi Family’s Young Lady.
Surely, she knew how to weigh pros and cons?
“All right, since that’s the case, I’ll listen to you this time, Su Mengdie.”
Penelope paused, fork in hand, and thought about it.
Su Mengdie actually made a pretty good point.
How strange, she actually lost in an argument, and so thoroughly, too.
Could Su Mengdie really have some magic to force her to obey?
After packing up the remaining Cake herself, Su Mengdie handed it over to Penelope by her side.
“Five pieces of Cake in total—not too many, not too few. ‘Su Mengdie,’ make sure you hold onto them. We’ll split them with everyone when we get home.”
“Huh? Why do I have to…”
“Hmm~?”
Before Penelope could finish, Su Mengdie hummed in a higher pitch.
The coffee shop staff were watching them.
“Yes, Young Lady~!”
Penelope suppressed her inner turmoil and responded with a smile.
So infuriating!
Su Mengdie actually dared to make her, the Jinzhi Family’s Young Lady, carry her things!
She was getting braver by the day!
Once they switched back, just wait until she treated Su Mengdie like a beast of burden—
***
“Is this the place?”
Su Mengdie glanced at the location on her phone, then looked up at the Financial Company in front of her.
Could that phone call really have been a scam…?
But then again, who scams people by asking them to pay in person?
Were they just asking to get caught?
“Young Lady, have you been here before?”
Looking at the dim and desolate streets around them, Su Mengdie felt a little uneasy.
According to the map, this place was right next to the City Center, but how did it look so much like a Ghost Town?
“I’ve been here. This company has some cooperation with our family. I know their boss—her surname is Lu. Why, did she call and ask you to come?”
Penelope nodded, but a question mark practically appeared above her head.
Wasn’t today the weekend?
“I don’t know who it was, but a woman on the phone told me to come over at nine.”
“She must be crazy! Scheduling a meeting this early on a weekend—if she doesn’t need to rest, I do! Su Mengdie, let’s go, ignore her.”
To be summoned on the weekend by someone surnamed Lu was one thing, but to schedule it so early?
Was her brain short-circuited or something?
After ranting at the building, Penelope grabbed Su Mengdie’s hand, ready to leave.
There were so many better things to do on a weekend—why come to a Ghost Town?
The City Center was right next door.
They could go shopping, watch a movie, eat out, get a beauty treatment and foot massage in the afternoon—wouldn’t that be perfect?
“Eh~ Young Lady, since we’re already here, let’s just go in and check. What if it really is urgent? Standing her up wouldn’t be good, especially since you said her company works with your family. If it’s nothing serious, I’ll curse her out for you.”
Su Mengdie made a good point, but Penelope was still reluctant.
A day off was a day off.
If you had to work on your day off, was it really a day off?
But since her body was in Su Mengdie’s hands, Penelope couldn’t really stop her, so she decided to go along and do Su Mengdie a favor.
“All right, but when the time comes, don’t hold back—scold her good! If you can’t, just call me and I’ll do it for you!”
After Penelope spoke, Su Mengdie nodded awkwardly.
Judging by her attitude, it was less about standing up for Su Mengdie and more about venting her own anger, right?
And why did she already assume it wouldn’t be anything urgent?
With Penelope’s introduction, Su Mengdie felt a bit braver and walked straight into the quiet building.
After explaining their purpose to the Security Guard on duty, Su Mengdie received some bad news.
“Sorry, miss, but there shouldn’t be anyone working at our company today. Maybe you made a mistake?”
“Even your boss isn’t working today? The one surnamed Lu.”
Su Mengdie pressed on, unwilling to give up.
“Right, I haven’t seen anyone except you two come into the building today.”
What’s going on?
How could the big boss stand someone up like this?
Did she even want to do business?
As soon as she heard this, Penelope was instantly furious, pushed past Su Mengdie, and shouted directly at the Security Guard.
“Give me the phone, I’ll call her myself!”
Faced with Penelope’s powerful aura, the Security Guard was stunned.
But it wasn’t like she could just use the phone here whenever she wanted.
“Sorry, this isn’t a public phone. And who are you, talking so arrogantly?”
Being called out by Boss Lu on the weekend had already ruined Penelope’s mood.
Now, a clueless Security Guard dared to get in her way?
“You’re asking who I am? Watch carefully—I am a member of the Jinzhi Family…”
Penelope frowned, about to reveal her identity and intimidate this lowly Security Guard.
Then, out of the corner of her eye, she saw Su Mengdie looking at her in shock.
Crap, she’d forgotten she wasn’t the Young Lady anymore!
