Yiyi was pouting in grievance, but suddenly remembered something.
She looked up at Xiamier, her eyes full of confusion, “What about Yaoyao? Doesn’t Yaoyao have to learn?”
“Mm, me?”
Yaoyao wriggled out from Xiamier’s arms.
Her short legs stood on the soft cushion, her chubby little hand patting her chest, big bright eyes looking at Yiyi, her voice milky and sweet as she called out.
“Esteemed Sister, Yaoyao can transform, look!”
Before she finished speaking, a gentle white light enveloped her small body.
When the radiance faded, a snow-white little dragon cub was standing in her place.
Her scales shimmered like fine snow, the dragon horns a pale pinkish white.
Most striking of all was her tail—the tip naturally formed a heart shape, swaying gently and scattering tiny specks of starlight, so adorable it was irresistible.
“Am I really… just an idiot?”
Yiyi’s voice grew smaller and smaller, the end trembling with a hint of grievance, her clenched little fists slowly relaxing.
The red glow atop her dragon horns faded completely, her tail drooping dispiritedly, even the strength with which it wrapped around Lilia’s wrist easing a little.
Aze leaned back against the chair, the jade pendant in her hand stilling for a moment, the amusement in her eyes dimming a bit, yet she stubbornly snorted,
“That’s right, you are an idiot, Hades.”
“I’m so mad… If I had any strength left right now, I’d have torn that mouth of yours off ages ago!”
Yiyi slammed the table with a thump, the cushion dipping slightly under the force.
Her face flushed so red it seemed to be burning, and the red light atop her horns flickered again—this time mixed with frustrated, childish fierceness.
She clenched her little fists, the tip of her tail sweeping angrily across the floor, but without realizing it, she wound it tightly around Lilia’s wrist again.
As if that was the only thing she could hold onto for support in that moment.
Aze raised her eyebrows, the mischief in her gaze returning in full.
She turned the jade pendant in her hand lazily, her tone openly provoking: “Oh? You, with your skinny arms and legs, still think you can tear off my mouth? Tch, serves you right for not going back to your own room to sleep at midnight… pfft~!”
“I’ll kick you to death!”
Yiyi jumped to her feet, her short legs charging straight at Aze on the opposite side with reckless abandon.
She was so angry her eyes had turned red, the red glow on her horn tips burning brilliantly, her tail ramrod straight—clearly pouring all her grievance and fury into this kick.
Aze never expected this little loli would really do it, let alone so suddenly.
She reflexively tried to dodge, but was caught by the edge of the table, her body tipping backward like a rag doll, sent flying by Yiyi’s kick, landing heavily on the carpet.
Saliva sprayed from her mouth uncontrollably, and the jade pendant clattered to the side.
“Hiss—” Aze clutched her belly where she’d been kicked, gritting her teeth in pain, but instead of getting angry, she propped herself up, eyes glinting with teasing amusement.
“Well, looks like the little idiot really dares to use her fists. Not much strength, but quite the temper.”
“Who told you to spout such nonsense!”
Yiyi stood rooted to the spot, chest heaving violently, cheeks burning red, but she couldn’t help stealing a glance at Aze’s face.
Seeing she wasn’t really hurt, her anger eased a bit, though her words stayed tough.
“If you dare mention what happened at midnight again, I’ll send you down to see the King of the Pavilion and atone for your sins right now!”
“Midnight? Little Yibao, what were you and Liliya up to in the middle of the night?”
Xiamier hugged Yaoyao, a mischievous glint flashing in her eyes as she deliberately drew out her words.
She lightly scratched Yaoyao’s chin, and the little one immediately wagged her heart-shaped tail, looking curiously at Yiyi, her big eyes full of gossip-hungry shine.
Yiyi’s face flushed so red it looked like it could bleed, the red light on her horns blazing so bright it was as if
it would set her whole body alight.
She instinctively shrank behind Liliya, her tail wrapped so tightly around Liliya’s wrist it almost dug into her skin, her voice barely louder than a mosquito’s buzz: “N-nothing happened! I just… just had a nightmare, so I slept with Liliya for a night, that’s all!”
“Oh? Just for a night?”
Aze had already picked herself up from the floor, patting the dust from her clothes and retrieving the jade pendant at her feet, the teasing smile in her eyes deepening.
“Why do I feel like that’s not the whole story? Someone didn’t seem to be asleep in the middle of the night, either. That voice was really… pfft~!”
“You’re asking for it!”
Yiyi’s fury exploded, the red light on her horn tips surging up like twin flickering flames, her tail ramrod straight, even suffused with a faint crimson glow.
She couldn’t care less about her embarrassment now—her little body lunged forward, tiny fists raining down on Aze’s arms and shoulders in a flurry of punches.
The blows weren’t strong, but they were driven by a reckless determination.
“That’s what you get for talking nonsense! That’s what you get for making things up! I’ll beat you to death, you big idiot!”
As she pounded away, her eyes grew wet and her nose began to sniffle, clearly furious.
Yet her voice carried a hint of wronged sobbing, like a little beast pushed to its limit, desperately fighting back.
Just as Yiyi wanted to keep hitting Aze, Xiamier stood up and walked over, picking Yiyi up and hugging her in her arms:
“You two, really… Ah~ If only you could be as well-behaved as Yaoyao?”
Xiamier stretched out a hand and effortlessly scooped up Yiyi, who was pummeling Aze, hugging her securely.
The little one was still wriggling angrily, tiny fists clenched, eyes red and nose sniffling, muttering stubbornly,
“Let me go! I want to beat this big idiot! He’s so annoying!”
Xiamier patted her back gently, the touch comforting yet brooking no refusal: “All right, all right, any more fuss and Aze’s arms really will be swollen from your punches.”
“Ow, Hades, you really are ruthless, huh?”
Aze massaged her reddened arm, deliberately grimacing in pain, though her eyes sparkled with laughter.
She looked at Yiyi, who was still squirming in Xiamier’s embrace, and exaggerated a sigh,
“If I’d known you were such a fierce little she-dragon, I wouldn’t have teased you. Now look, my arm’s about to be broken by you—if I lose the trial to someone else, it’s all your fault.”
“Hmph, I’d like to see you try and beat me! Idiot!”
Yiyi stuck out her tongue at Aze, her cheeks still wet with tears, eyes rimmed red.
Yet she insisted on keeping up a fierce front, puffing out her chest like a bristling kitten—lacking in intimidation, but instead showing a certain cuteness.
Her tail tip swept irritably across Xiamier’s arm, but still instinctively wrapped a half circle around it, as if to give herself a boost of courage.
The wind on the plaza carried the unique crisp scent of jade from the Dragon Palace, swirling around the hem of Luoli’s maid uniform.
Yiyi lay sprawled on the stone steps, her little chin resting on folded arms, eyes round and wide, even her breathing held shallow.
She saw Luoli surrounded by a faint silver glow.
The light was gentle but undeniable, streaming along her hair and fingertips, slowly enveloping her completely.
The next second, the silver brilliance tightened abruptly.
Accompanied by the faint crackle of bones, Luoli’s body rapidly stretched and swelled within the light—her slender neck thickening and growing powerful, covered in delicate silver scales that gleamed coldly under the sun.
Her arms transformed into broad dragon wings, the membrane stretched with clear veins.
As they unfurled, a wild gust whipped up, making Yiyi’s hair and skirt flap wildly.
A long silver tail unfurled behind her, the tip armed with sharp bone spurs, yet its swaying still carried a trace of elegance.
In just an instant, the previously cool and aloof dragon maiden had become a majestic silver-scaled dragon.
Her horns curved like coral, eyes a deep icy blue.
Gazing down at the earth, she exuded a natural aura of authority, yet the sheen of her scales gave her an extraordinary beauty.
