Inside the dark interrogation room of the Witch Building, only the Faceless Witch and Feini sat face to face.
“Is this your plan?” the Faceless Witch asked.
“That’s right.” Feini no longer had her previous hesitant and timid demeanor; she looked calm as she sipped her coffee.
“The Rune Collar around your neck—I’ve inspected it. The magical craftsmanship is truly profound, worthy of the highest praise among demons… But we can help you break it,” the Faceless Witch said.
“The spellwork on it is extremely well hidden. Even after living with you for some time, I couldn’t detect it. That’s why I’m very curious how the Orange Red Dragon found out about it.”
“Because I was the one who told her.” Feini smiled.
So it turned out that all of her previous behavior had been an act—her lines, her expressions, all carefully crafted to add credibility to her words.
The tip-off that Orange Sea Dream received had been sent by Feini herself; otherwise, how could so much important information have been exposed?
Although there had been serious issues during the course of the plan, the outcome was as intended.
By nature, the cautious Red Dragon would never fight the brutal and fierce Red Dragon to the end.
Once Orange Sea Dream learned Ten-Step Hall’s true identity, she would abandon the entanglement and inevitably choose to fight instead.
That’s when her ruse would begin.
“So what do you plan to do next?” the Faceless Witch asked.
“We’ll do as you suggested—remove the collar’s binding spell and proceed with the hearing as scheduled,” Feini said.
“Will you reveal the mastermind?” the Faceless Witch asked.
“I won’t.” Feini shook her head.
“Why do you think I would help you? Are you aware that your actions have severely threatened the security of the God and Demon Academy?” the Faceless Witch said sternly.
“The God and Demon Academy was never about security,” Feini said.
“Don’t act like you know us so well,” the Faceless Witch replied.
“No, I do know you well. If the God and Demon Academy was meant to bring safety and order to Demonic Beasts, you should have been called Sacred Maidens, not Witches. You created the Academy for amusement, for your own pleasure. Just as I always eat delicious food to maintain my sanity— otherwise, we’d be consumed by the instincts of our weapons. And you witches also need entertainment to keep your minds clear; otherwise, you’d fall under the sway of magic’s origins.”
Feini analyzed calmly.
“……” The Faceless Witch was silent for a long time, not denying Feini’s analysis.
She understood why Feini knew witches so well. After all, the Weapon Demons and the Magical Energy Bodies were similar in their essential make-up—not purely biological beings, both needing certain means to maintain their reason.
If deprived of joy and pleasure for too long, they would become mindless monsters driven purely by instinct.
The God and Demon Academy was the Nameless Witch’s playground, superficially imitating human academies to teach Demonic Beasts—but for what?
Just to find some amusement. And now, Feini was bringing them the greatest amusement of all.
So Feini had anticipated that the witches would not reject her plan.
From the very beginning, they had never intended to actually arrest her, because since entering the Witch Building, only the Faceless Witch had spoken with her.
“So, you’re planning to stay silent, pledge loyalty to the Pseudo-Demon, then let her take you all out of the Demon Domain and sneak into human territory?” the Faceless Witch asked. “I feel your plan’s a bit shaky. Are you really so sure the Pseudo-Demon will help you? That’s rather unprofessional.”
“Exactly, she’s really not professional at all.” Feini laughed.
“Then I already know who it is. It’s not hard to guess—there are only a few people close to you. But just like with your collar, we never detected anything wrong with her. The aura she gives off is that of a Demonic Beast through and through,” the Faceless Witch said.
“Are you sure your target is right? Anyway, it won’t hurt for me to try; in the end, only you will feel awkward if you’re wrong.”
“I never feel awkward. And if I do, that’s just an act too.” Feini replied.
“If you’re going to play the role, play it to the end. Just stay here for a few days.” The Faceless Witch slowly stood up.
“So, you’re agreeing to my Human Undercover Plan?” Feini asked.
“I’ll prepare some hidden magical tools for your infiltration.” The Faceless Witch said.
“And as for Baicheng and Little Black, please take care of them while I’m away these next few days.” Feini said.
“I know what to do.” The Faceless Witch turned into particles of light and disappeared.
“…How do I get out?” Feini wondered aloud.
Luckily, in the next moment, the interrogation room door opened automatically.
Feini couldn’t appear in public for now, but she could move freely within the Witch Building.
……
Meanwhile, big changes were unfolding in the high school division outside.
After the club war ended, there wasn’t much difference; everyone returned to their own groups.
But after the Pseudo-Demon Incident, rumors spread through the whole school in a flash, and now everyone knew about the matter of that so-called human-level Pseudo-Demon, Feini.
Who would have thought the campus legend was actually true? Feini had been taken away by the witches for investigation—what kind of terrifying torture would she face?
It was a hot topic everyone delighted in discussing.
As for Feini’s original Lost Beast squad, things looked unchanged on the surface, but the core had already crumbled.
Ten-Step Hall remained as cheerful and sunny as ever, rallying her self-founded Tea Party Club, but none of her usual reliable aides joined her; she had to handle everything herself.
Sometimes people thought she worked too hard, not realizing this was just her way of distracting herself, keeping busy so she wouldn’t have to think about the broken squad.
Instead, the usually energetic Golden Fang Beast Sisters had become two lazy cats—either hissing at others or loafing around all day.
Xueyuedai hadn’t spoken to Ten-Step Hall for ages. Though she still helped the Tea Party Club with all sorts of chores, almost all her communication with the president was through written notes.
The scene shifted…
Qingshamu, meanwhile, had reverted to her initial, ice-cold, “demons keep away” persona, and the little popularity she’d accumulated was now gone without a trace.
This attitude was something she’d practiced in advance to better play the part of a Demonic Beast—she thought the fiercer she acted, the more beast-like she’d seem.
But now, assuming this persona wasn’t for undercover work; she was preparing to give up.
“That’s her.”
“Always hanging around with the Pseudo-Demon.”
“Scared out of her wits? Just sits there all day.”
Even with Qingshamu acting like this, there were still reckless Demonic Beast apprentices nearby gossiping about her.
This time, Qingshamu didn’t just glare—she really drew her sword, cutting down the gossiping students and sending them straight to the Medical Room.
She’d realized that at the God and Demon Academy, beating someone up just got her a lecture from the Training Director and nothing more—no real punishment.
And she was interested in meeting the Training Director anyway.
“The matter is still under investigation.” But every time Qingshamu sought out the Faceless Witch, she got the same answer.
“They say you’re torturing Feini in there—is it true?” Qingshamu asked coldly.
“Maybe. I don’t know. It’s not my job anymore,” the Faceless Witch dodged.
“If anything happens to Feini, I won’t forgive you.” Qingshamu said.
“Are you threatening the Training Director?” The Faceless Witch was speechless.
No wonder Feini said this one was useless—definitely not undercover material, way too hopeless.
Other people go undercover for three years at a time; she gets by on dumb luck, or she’d be gone in three days.
“When the hearing comes, you’ll know the truth, won’t you? I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that just now. Go on.” The Faceless Witch didn’t bother saying another word to Qingshamu.
At the same time…
Orange Sea Dream came to the Medical Room, wanting to visit the injured Blackie.
“President, Blackie betrayed you, so why are you still being so nice to her?” Weima Ana was utterly baffled. “Oh, I get it—are we here to assassinate her?”
“I’m repaying evil with kindness. Blackie was only tricked by that Pseudo-Demon. If we can help her come back to her senses, all will be well.” Orange Sea Dream said.
But when they arrived, the witch nurse told them the Black Dragon had recovered and gone home long ago.
But where was Blackie’s dormitory, exactly? The two exchanged glances—no one knew.
Only now did Orange Sea Dream and Weima Ana realize they didn’t even know where Blackie lived.
This mysterious half-dragon girl was becoming ever more enigmatic.
And there was still one more person…
Bai Yuge · Rose was in about the same state as her Evil Father, basically turning into the ghostly “White Hair Killing God.”
She’d stopped attending class, instead camping out under the training ground in front of the Witch Building, keeping a constant watch.
Before long, Baicheng had company—Evil Father Qingshamu, after classes, would join her on the stakeout.
“If anything goes wrong, we’ll break out of the Academy with Feini,” Qingshamu suggested.
“I don’t trust you,” Bai Yuge replied.
“Baicheng, you’re still too rigid, always thinking in straight lines. Don’t you know how to use other people? You’ll never be able to save Feini like that,” Qingshamu said flatly.
“So what do you want to do?” Bai Yuge asked.
“The hearing is our only chance to act. Turning on the witches now isn’t a good idea. Now that Feini’s Pseudo-Demon legend is all over campus, if they don’t give the students an explanation, the witches will lose support. Until then, they won’t lay a finger on Feini,” Qingshamu analyzed.
“I’ll trust you this once. Blackie will help us too,” Bai Yuge said gravely.
“Who exactly is that half-dragon girl? Can we trust her?” Qingshamu asked.
“She’s my little sister,” Bai Yuge answered.
Though she’d already guessed, hearing the truth still left Qingshamu a little unsettled.
But with past-life grudges, she couldn’t let hatred carry on to the next generation—she couldn’t bring herself to hurt her enemy’s daughter.
“Hey, Baicheng. Blockhead.”
Suddenly, someone called out, and another familiar face appeared at the edge of the training ground.
The two turned warily to see that it was Xueyuedai.
