In just one morning, with Fortune’s Favor shining down, An Ling didn’t miss a single wooden crate—the luck was almost absurd.
Though not every attempt was a bullseye, this prayer was clearly more effective for opening boxes than playing any “Good Luck Comes.”
This wasn’t just superstition; it was the real deal.
In one morning, from six wooden crates, she obtained: Upgrade Card1, Enhancement Card1, Construction Card1, Tool Card2, Key1, Scrap Iron10, Charcoal8, Bottled Water6, Ham Sausage*5.
Besides that, she’d also salvaged some extra materials apart from the boxes: Wood20, Plastic10, Thatch*5.
Although the resources weren’t abundant, most were cards, which made it worthwhile.
“Seems like you can only fish these materials out of the sea. Aren’t there any other things, like ores? Where am I supposed to get those?”
An Ling was puzzled. If she only got these supplies every time, then her island would remain in the Stone Age for ten years if she didn’t rely on cards.
“A key… Right, there’s still a locked wooden chest in my cabin.” She immediately grabbed the key and hurried back inside, unlocking the final locked chest.
Inside, it was empty—except for one Enhancement Card.
Well, An Ling couldn’t help feeling scammed. She sorted the supplies into categories, then gazed at the six different-colored cards in her hand, lost in thought.
Tool Cards were fixed, so there was no need to hesitate—she used them without a second thought.
[Navigation Locator: Capable of locating nearby deserted islands, but first you must own a boat.]
[Changming Lantern: All-natural, no consumption, no pollution, a must-have for nighttime lighting.]
“Navigation Locator? What’s this?” Sticking to her rule of ‘if you don’t know, just build it and see,’ An Ling decisively installed it inside her wooden cabin.
This thing was about the size of a desktop computer, with a square screen on top, like a radar. The pointer kept spinning, scanning for something nearby.
[Construct Navigation Locator, reward: JK Outfit*3.]
“Alright, alright, so that’s how the system wants to play.” But then An Ling sighed, “Whatever, at least it’s clothing. Better than having nothing to wear.”
[Points Store has updated new items!]
“Huh?”
An Ling hurried to check the store, and aside from the 10 Points Base Stone Card, there was now also a 30 Points Positioning Card.
Without hesitation, she bought it right away—since the system never gave further prompts unless you held the item in hand.
[Positioning Card: Used together with the Navigation Locator to detect surrounding ‘Supply Islands’. There is a certain risk of failure.] [Reminder: The survivor’s current island is called ‘Construction Island’. The island entered on a fixed cycle is ‘Survival Island’. ‘Supply Islands’ are different from both; they only have resources, with extremely low danger levels.]
“Again with the ‘extremely low danger level.’ Who would believe that?” An Ling cursed under her breath.
Now she understood. Turns out, to get ore and other resources, she needed to land on a Supply Island.
“But the system just said that to go to a Supply Island, I need a boat first.” An Ling glanced at the nearby beached Wooden Raft. “This thing should work, right?”
Looking at the four remaining cards in her hand, An Ling let out a cold laugh, and immediately pulled out the red Upgrade Card, using it on the raft.
In an instant, the entire raft underwent a dramatic transformation. Railings rose around the edges, and the whole thing became an elliptical vessel with pointed ends.
There was even a simple wooden canopy on top—the raft had upgraded to a wooden boat, with several compartments inside to store things.
“Upgrade Cards are the best.” An Ling was pleased. Didn’t this mean the wooden boat could evolve continuously like her cabin? One for living, one as an essential travel tool.
With information about all three island types, this travel tool had suddenly become crucial.
An Ling pulled out her only Construction Card and looked at the front—a diagram of an interior. She couldn’t make sense of it.
[Construction Card: Wooden Decor. Any interior can be transformed into all-wood decor and flooring. As your house expands, just add more wood as needed. A must-have for renovations. Very convenient. Earn 2 Points.]
“This is a solid six—does this even count as construction?”
Seeing this card, An Ling already knew how she’d use her Enhancement Card.
Enhance the cabin!
As the card vanished from her hand, the entire wooden cabin expanded, its area instantly growing from four square meters to ten, with much more complete facilities inside.
There was even a reserved spot for a stove and a chimney, the plank walls were reinforced, and the wooden windows became larger and more numerous, letting in ample light.
Of course, the only downside was that underfoot was still the island’s damp and messy ground.
Next came pairing with the Construction Card. She used up 50 pieces of wood, and in a flash, the entire interior was refreshed.
The floor turned into smooth wooden planks, decorated with pretty patterns, shiny as if waxed. The walls were smooth and even—everything looked wonderful.
Now, it seemed her simple Wooden Bed looked a bit out of place.
One last card remained—another Enhancement Card. An Ling debated whether to enhance the Wooden Bed or the oar.
To be honest, there were too many things on the island needing upgrades.
Even with the ability to locate Supply Islands and a boat, using just this Wooden Oar, who knew how long it would take to row there? As for the bed, she could make do for now.
So—enhance the Wooden Oar!
She went over to her wooden boat, and as the last card disappeared from her hand, the oar completed its enhancement.
[Hand-crank Propeller: Can be installed on the wooden boat, saving time and energy. Efficiency increased tenfold. Very convenient. ‘Only 2 steamed buns consumed per hundred kilometers.’]
“I thought it’d just turn electric—guess I overestimated it.”
An Ling clicked install, attaching the propeller to the back of the wooden boat. Since there was no sail, she’d have to keep cranking it herself.
Maybe a sail would show up next time she enhanced or upgraded it.
This was just like those paddle boats she’d ridden at scenic spots before, basically the same as a bicycle in principle.
After fixing up the boat, An Ling returned to her cabin. Now the cabin was 10 square meters, while the island itself was only 15—seemed a bit cramped. So she used 50 Points to expand the island to 20 square meters, finally satisfied.
Next was reorganizing the larger cabin interior all over again.
After half an hour of rearranging, she could finally have lunch.
Light the fire, boil some water—An Ling planned to have a steaming bowl of fish soup for lunch.
She picked out a wooden arrow, using it as a skewer, and stabbed it through a squid, roasting it beside the iron stove. Squid had to be grilled for the best flavor, after all.
Soon enough, a pot of fragrant fish soup was ready, and with delicious grilled squid on the side, An Ling ate heartily.
The only downside was the lack of seasonings, but she added a little sea salt from her seawater filtration device—just a bit should be fine.
“Ah, smells so good!”
Now there was a Changming Lantern inside. It wasn’t especially bright, but it was much better than a torch, and didn’t require any fuel at all.
The lamp had a wooden cover—just slip it on to ‘turn off’ the light. Incredibly convenient.
Who would’ve thought that in just one day, her quality of life would leap forward so drastically.
