Bella woke from her haze.
The instant she opened her eyes, she saw the face of the man she hated so much that her teeth ached.
At this moment, Charlotte’s eyes were closed, his posture still as a statue, the sunlight casting upon his face, making him appear radiant and full of vigor.
He’s really handsome, what a shame he’s a pervert!
Although Bella knew calling someone else a pervert made her a hypocrite, she just wanted to curse at the man in front of her.
Bella twisted her body a little, and when she felt her strength returning, she instantly revealed a confident smile.
She was a Fourth-Rank Swordsman, about to step into the Transcendent Realm!
There was only one thing on her mind right now! She was determined to reclaim all the dignity she had lost last night!
But just as she was about to make a move on Charlotte, that feeling from last night surged through her again—that sensation of being conquered, the burning pain, and the way his attitude had flipped completely, becoming incomparably gentle to her.
Bella frowned, hesitating—every time she raised the thought of resistance, memories of the moments between her and Charlotte would come flooding back, along with the pain and stimulation he had left upon her body.
She really didn’t want to have her throat squeezed again; that feeling of suffocation was just too awful….
Thinking of that, she gave up. She let herself go, turned her back, adjusted her sleeping position, and snatched more of the blanket from Charlotte’s side—that was the biggest act of rebellion she could manage!
She turned her head away, sulking like a child throwing a tantrum.
“Awake?”
A voice sounded from behind her, a voice she would never forget in her lifetime.
Hearing it, Bella’s body trembled. Luckily, she hadn’t made a move just now—this damn man hadn’t been asleep at all!
“Since you’re awake, get up. The day is already well underway. If you don’t get out of bed now, the whole day will be wasted.” Charlotte sat up, patting Bella’s peach.
“Hiss….” Bella gasped, still hurting….
This was clearly the man’s obedience test.
Unfortunately, Charlotte had completely succeeded. Bella Ennis had already been turned into an obedient child by this man.
She helplessly lifted the blanket and sat up, her pale violet hair a messy tangle.
“You’d better not think about rebelling, and don’t have any more dealings with the Aetherlan Divine Church.”
Charlotte lifted Bella’s chin, gazing into her eyes as he spoke.
Those emerald green eyes made Bella lose herself a little.
There was no way those could be human eyes, and yet, such beautiful eyes belonged to Charlotte.
Touched by Charlotte, Bella shuddered again. She wondered to herself if she was just too sensitive….
“…..”
At this moment, silence spoke louder than words. To show her submission, Bella lowered her little head, not daring to look Charlotte in the eye.
Charlotte looked at the weak, pitiful, and helpless Bella, and found her rather cute like this.
Perhaps it was because she was quite petite, not even 1.6 meters tall, her chest not exaggerated like a bunny, and a pair of moist little lips—though now a bit dry from dehydration.
Right now, she did look rather disheveled.
“Come on, follow me to the bathroom. I’ll help you get cleaned up. You don’t look like a noble lady at all right now.”
In the bathroom, Charlotte had no intention of giving Bella any special treatment. He wanted her to recognize her place.
With a snap of his fingers, he conjured a Water Sphere with magic, smashing it straight onto Bella’s body.
Even though it was summer, getting drenched with cold water early in the morning was no pleasant thing.
Bella instantly sobered up.
She hugged her chest with both arms, shivering from the constant drenching of cold water, her delicate figure trembling under the unceasing flow.
The water blurred her vision and washed away her tears.
Only then did she experience true regret for the first time in her life.
She didn’t know what awaited her in the future, but it would definitely not be like before.
Although her father would have her assassinate people from time to time, at least she could still keep up the airs of a noble lady—that was the shell this little hedgehog used to protect herself.
She didn’t enjoy tormenting those who were about to die either.
It was only when she saw Charlotte and Floleen that she envied and resented the atmosphere between them, the happiness they had, so she wanted to torment Charlotte and Floleen.
But now, she would never think like that again. Only after experiencing it herself did she understand the depth of such despair.
If she could do it all over again, she would never obey her father’s orders to assassinate Charlotte.
She’d rather die alone in the emotionless Ennis household.
The cold water continued pouring for a full five minutes, and only when Bella was about to lose consciousness did Charlotte finally stop.
“I’ll go find you a dress. There are plenty of women’s gowns in the house. The Mistmoon Family won’t treat you badly….”
He heard the sound of weeping.
At this moment, Bella wiped the water from her face and quietly sobbed.
“Why are you crying?” Charlotte’s emotionless voice sent a chill through Bella—she couldn’t read his mood at all.
“It’s nothing…. I’ll be obedient….”
Bella left the bathroom, went to the bedside, picked up her own undergarments, and dried the water droplets from her body.
Once Charlotte brought over a dress that fit perfectly, she slowly put on all her clothes.
Looking at Bella dressed up, Charlotte felt satisfied with his judgment.
Bella’s figure was about the same as his own eldest sister, Elise Mistmoon—the clothes fit just right.
Right now, Bella had the air of a beauty just out of the bath.
Her hair was still damp, her brows lowered with worry, like a frail and sickly noble lady.
Yet who could know that beneath this beauty lay something deadly.
A Fourth-Rank Swordsman—this wasn’t much to Charlotte, but to an ordinary person, it would be the achievement of a lifetime.
Seeing Charlotte still staring at her, Bella timidly raised her hand and asked, “Um… Can I use a Wind Spell to dry my hair a bit…?”
“No. Do I know Wind Spells? If I’m not going to help you, that means you can’t do it.” Charlotte refused coldly.
With a Fourth-Rank Swordsman’s constitution, Bella wouldn’t catch a chill from something like this.
Actually, Charlotte had simply forgotten to help dry her hair, but this made a perfect excuse for yet another obedience test.
He was quite satisfied with the outcome. At the very least, now Bella was by his side and would check with him about anything she did.
Bella complained inwardly, “He really is an incredibly controlling pervert… Good thing I didn’t defy him.”
She’d made all sorts of strange noises last night, but he had simply ignored her.
“Let’s go. I need to handle some business first. After that, we’ll talk about your situation.”
“Okay…”
Bella hurried to keep up with Charlotte.
