The moonless night was thick with wind, and in the quiet dormitory, faint breathing drifted in the air. On one bunk, there was a subtle rustling sound as a figure cautiously climbed down and left the room.
“Phew~” Lin Yi walked along the road, pulling out his Smartphone and scrolling through the information he’d found earlier about the Meteor Shower. The faint glow from the screen lit up his clean, handsome face.
This was a once-in-a-century Meteor Shower. Ever since he’d seen the news, he’d been searching for related information and looking for the best place to watch it.
He had asked a few of his closest friends, but none of them were interested in heading out in the middle of the night. So Lin Yi decided to go on his own.
His University was on the outskirts of the City, where it was quiet at night. He rode his bicycle towards the destination. As he rode, the clouds began to part, and the moonlight scattered like salt across the asphalt road. A gentle breeze ruffled his hair, and a faint smile appeared at the corner of his lips.
Reaching a higher grassy slope, he parked his bike and continued on foot. His eyes moved from the sky to the area ahead—only to see that someone was already standing there.
Hm? Another enthusiast. Lin Yi approached and realized it was a Long-haired Girl.
The girl turned at the sound. Her charming face, framed by peach blossom eyes, glanced over at Lin Yi. Just below her eye was a beauty mark—a girl whose beauty outshone the flowers.
Lin Yi was stunned for a moment before coming to his senses. He gave her a slight nod as a greeting, then moved to the side to set up his Camera.
The girl didn’t say anything and turned back around. Soon after, a glow lit up the distant horizon.
It’s here! Lin Yi quickly set up his Camera, ready to shoot. The sky split open in a streak, and a Meteor, trailing a pale blue tail flame, burst forth in a flash of silvery white light—the brief moment like a collective martyrdom.
Lin Yi was just marveling at the beautiful sight when he heard the girl beside him give a soft laugh and say, “Once-in-a-century, but it’s just so-so.” Lin Yi turned his head, only to see the girl’s smile freeze, her peach blossom eyes widening, filled with…fear?
Realizing something, Lin Yi whipped his head back around. All he saw was a streak of white light trailing a pale gold tail, enveloping them both. Time seemed to stand still as the white light erupted into a dazzling brilliance.
Is this…a Meteor? That was Lin Yi’s last thought.
***
Where…is this? Lin Yi first felt a heavy pressure on her eyelids. The sounds around her seemed muffled, as if she were underwater. She tried moving her fingers—there was a cool sensation at her fingertips. The vivid reality of it pulled her mind back to awareness.
A girl’s lashes fluttered as she opened her eyes, revealing a pair of clear, bright pupils. Her jet-black long hair fanned out across the ground, making her look like a delicate flower blooming in the grass.
Lin Yi stared blankly at the pair of soft, fair hands that clearly didn’t belong to him. Disbelieving, she ran her hands all over her body—her face felt soft, her body supple, her chest noticeably fuller, even… She squeezed her eyes shut and reached her hand straight down, and her heart sank to rock bottom. This wasn’t him, at least not the him from before.
“What the hell is going on!” Lin Yi clutched her head and let out the sharpest scream of her life.
Her mind was spinning with questions: What exactly had happened to her now? Why had she turned into a girl? Was it caused by the Meteor from before? But she hadn’t seen any evidence of a Meteor strike… And where was the girl who’d been with her before? Did she know what was going on now…?
“Uwu…” Suddenly, a sound broke Lin Yi’s thoughts. She turned her head and saw…a human child?
The child looked about two or three years old, already past the awkward newborn phase and looking chubby and adorable, babbling nonsense. She wasn’t wearing any clothes—yes, a girl… But that wasn’t the main point!
Why would there be a child in the middle of nowhere, right next to her who’d just become a girl? Was this a Star Child from the stars?!
Lin Yi took a deep breath for a full minute before barely managing to steady her nerves. Looking at the child in front of her, from every angle she was just an ordinary human child. Lin Yi couldn’t bear to leave her alone in the wild, so she picked the girl up and wrapped her in her clothes. Thankfully, all the things she’d brought were still with her.
Whatever the case, the first priority was to get settled, then figure out what to do next.
After two minutes of consideration, Lin Yi made a decisive choice—to go home and find Mom.
