The nobles began sending their soldiers to “coordinate” a sum of money from the commoners, while they themselves were already hosting a victory banquet in Zijin City…
They drank wine, ate meat, and feasted heartily.
Most of the fat pig noble’s soldiers had died, but no one could see a trace of sadness on his face. At this moment, he was shaking a bottle of champagne, pulling out the cork in front of his own maid.
With a loud “pop,” champagne foam sprayed everywhere, drenching the maid from head to toe!
The entire crowd was swept up in the festive atmosphere, while Nieve had already left that absurd scene—there was no telling what dirty things this group of nobles would get up to once they started partying!
Yinan also left after a few drinks; he wasn’t interested in the nobles’ party games. He made his way to the camp of the Violet Watch, where Luoling was pouring him red wine and massaging his shoulders.
Whenever the two of them were alone, Luoling would always revert to her role as his personal maid.
Yinan leaned back contentedly, savoring Luoling’s embrace.
Meanwhile, in the main battlefield of Fujin City, the city gates were battered and scarred. When Baruch received the news that his eldest son and daughter had been killed, it was as if he’d been struck by lightning.
He was furious, shouting that he would tear Will and Yinan to pieces!
The deaths of Ron and Isabella drove him to launch frequent attacks, but each time he received yet another report of a crushing defeat, his rationality would return.
Will was also quite pleased with Yinan’s performance. The fall of Zijin City allowed him to attack even more brazenly, and Will’s other children all showed jealousy toward Nieve.
They had joined the main army hoping to earn some merit, but unexpectedly, it was Nieve who won the greatest glory.
But as the saying goes: the first to win only gets paper; the one who wins last gets the money!
Baruch’s head was the ultimate prize of this campaign!
As long as they kept pace with the main army, they could be the first to claim Baruch’s head!
Nieve was anxious about this too. She had just found Yinan, but the timing was less than ideal…
Yet that scoundrel didn’t care about her arrival at all—right in front of her, he was “negotiating” war with his family’s little fox!
Nieve could only silently curse, startled by the enormous secrets this scoundrel was hiding!
What’s more, she could hardly believe the refined-looking man before her could utter such crude and outrageous words…
Calling out “little good-for-nothing” with every other sentence—he wasn’t talking about her, but even so, her face flushed and her heart raced…
“Miss Nieve…” Yinan straightened his clothes, putting on a calm, questioning expression. “Is there something you need?”
Nieve could only curse him for being shameless, swallowing her discontent. “Baron Yinan, now that Zijin City has fallen, shouldn’t we coordinate with the main army and march to attack Fujin City?”
Yinan raised an eyebrow, the corners of his mouth lifting in a meaningful smile. “Naturally. However, now is not the right time to march. Everyone just won a great victory, but they haven’t had time to enjoy themselves. If they must immediately face life and death again, I’m afraid morale will suffer.”
Nieve frowned. Though she suspected Yinan was making excuses, she couldn’t refute him directly.
“Baron Yinan, I understand your concern, but opportunities in war vanish in a flash. Right now Baruch is devastated with grief and anger—his side must be in chaos. If we strike now, we might catch him off guard.”
“Absolutely not!” Yinan flatly rejected her. “As the saying goes, arrogant troops are bound to lose, desperate soldiers will win. This is definitely not the right time to attack!”
Of course…this was just an excuse Yinan came up with. Until Nieve gave him some concrete benefits, Yinan wasn’t about to send his own soldiers to die.
At present, only three out of ten of the noble coalition’s forces remained, and Fujin City was the main stronghold of a count’s territory. It was never going to be taken so easily!
Nieve, thinking of her own interests, naturally wanted everyone to risk their lives, but right now, Yinan represented the interests of the nobles as a whole.
In the past two days, several nobles had already brought “sincerity” to Yinan.
And the price for accepting their sincerity was: stall for time!
At least for the next few days, there would be no attack! Unless old man Will gave a direct order himself!
If Yinan dared to march now, those greedy bastards who hadn’t grabbed enough money would tear him to pieces!
Seeing Yinan’s firm stance, Nieve grew even more anxious. She wanted to say more, but suddenly clapped her hand over her mouth, unable to speak.
The little fox suddenly dove into Yinan’s arms.
[At this moment, Luoling turns into a little good-for-nothing]
Watching this, Nieve was both angry and embarrassed. The two of them acted so intimate in front of her as if no one else existed, leaving her no choice but to leave in embarrassment…
And so, for the next few days, Yinan and the other nobles enjoyed themselves to the fullest in Zijin City, paying no mind to the war…
During the day, he would catch his little fox and call her a good-for-nothing, and at night, he would go home to take care of his daughter.
Even Ailinxue couldn’t figure out where Yinan had learned such filthy words—his cursing left her completely mortified!
A few days later…in Yinan’s residence…
“You little trash, just like a puppy…I think you’re just asking to be scolded!” Yinan said contemptuously to Ailinxue as he got dressed.
If it weren’t for the approval protection over Ailinxue, Yinan would never have let her off so easily!
Ailinxue’s face was burning red as she glared at Yinan, both ashamed and angry, but she couldn’t say a word.
She could only watch as that scoundrel walked out the door…
Yinan glanced at Ailinxue’s obedience level above her head…
[Ailinxue’s Obedience 64%—Hatred Guide]
Clearly, she’d been thoroughly scolded these past few days!
Yinan lifted the tent flap and sat down in the deputy’s seat. Now that everyone had had their fill of plunder and pleasure, it was time to attack!
As soon as he sat down, the lively discussions in the tent immediately quieted, and all the nobles turned their eyes to him.
“Everyone…” Yinan glanced at Nieve sitting in the chief’s seat, tapping on the desk. “I’m sure you’ve all had enough rest these past few days. Now, it’s time to set out and continue the offensive!”
No sooner had Yinan spoken than the tent filled with hushed whispers.
Nieve had been waiting for this. Another delay and she’d be left with nothing. “Baron Yinan is absolutely right. Everyone, prepare at once—we depart immediately!”
Seeing that these two shameless lovebirds were in agreement, no one dared object. They could only go back and order their own soldiers to get ready.
And so, only Yinan and Nieve remained in the tent…
“Miss Nieve…” Yinan saw her hesitating, unsure of what she wanted. “Is there something you need?”
Nieve blushed as she walked up to Yinan. “Baron Yinan…could you…scold me too?”
