In this world, most living beings are naturally divided into various ranks.
Their bloodline’s strength more or less determines their future achievements.
Low, middle, and high—three tiers; above them lie Legendary, Epic, and Mythic.
Except for a handful of special creatures, none can escape this fate.
For instance, dragons are considered high-tier beings, born with a certain degree of intelligence and strength.
Of course, by constantly exploring and cultivating, one can strengthen themselves and transcend their current life stage.
If they succeed, they gain greater talent, power, and a far longer lifespan.
But with the rewards come risks and difficulty—most dragons never cross this threshold in their lifetime and may even die along the way.
A dragon with a Legendary Bloodline can live anywhere from three thousand to ten thousand years, though this varies with the dragon type and the individual.
Should one surpass even that, breaking through to the Epic Bloodline, they will be known as a Dragon King.
Such beings are unimaginably powerful and rare—usually, there is only ever a single Dragon King in a given dragon race at one time.
“You were born with a Legendary Bloodline, that’s pretty rare. But considering you’re one of that old fellow’s last batch of descendants, it’s not impossible if you think about it.”
“That old fellow?”
Genasar shot a sidelong glance at the Crystal Dragon girl before him.
To be honest, he felt nothing at all toward his so-called parents in this life.
The Five-Colored Dragons never had much concept of family to begin with; abandoning their spouses and children was the norm.
Without kinship, Genasar naturally felt indifferent toward them.
Still, he was very curious—the “old fellow” mentioned by this Crystal Sage seemed to be anything but ordinary.
“Who is he?”
Geli squinted and smiled, then answered offhandedly, “The Red Dragon King, of course. I can’t tell you his name—he’s got a nasty temper, and just mentioning him would make him fly into a rage and chase after us for extortion. Not that I’m afraid, but as for you…”
She grinned wickedly, stroking her chin with interest.
“I heard he became a Dragon King not long ago. You’re probably the result of his last little spree. If he found out you were born at a height other dragons spend their entire lives trying and failing to reach, what do you think he’d do?”
What else? Obviously, he’d eliminate the threat to his throne, even if that threat was his own descendant.
Seeing Genasar’s bewildered look, Geli reached over to ruffle his head again.
“So, if you don’t behave, I might just have to call your guardian~”
Genasar: 山_°) What the hell, I’ve just hatched and already pulled the ultimate boss? How am I supposed to fight this…
Gurgle, gurgle—
After all the commotion, Genasar’s stomach started rumbling again.
The eggshell had already been digested, and the chunk of meat Geli brought earlier was finally back within his line of sight.
“I’d better eat my fill first.”
“Mm-hmm, Master will just wait here by your side, then take you on a tour to get familiar with our home.”
She sat beside him with a silly grin, cupping her cheeks, staring at Genasar and chuckling from time to time.
“Uh… She’s looking at me like that, it’s a little scary. Feels like a perverted old woman who preys on little boys… Forget it, just ignore her.”
Hungry, Genasar stopped paying attention to Geli and approached the delicious chunk of meat. He didn’t know what kind of meat it was, but it tasted excellent.
The act of eating was monotonous, so Genasar finally had time to recall his previous life.
In his previous life, he was summoned as a Hero to this Sword and Magic World.
Regrettably, he never awakened the Heroic Divine Skill he was supposed to.
So, the life of a dragon cheat protagonist was out of his reach.
Even worse, his talents in every area were completely mediocre; he had no connection with any kind of magic or martial skills.
Fortunately, he did gain the precious friendship of the Prince of the Kingdom of the Strongest Nation.
The prince had all the looks and power expected of his station, but was also kind-hearted.
Using all sorts of novel things and useful techniques brought from his previous world, Genasar became the prince’s closest friend.
The prince never cared about the difference in their statuses, and even stood up for Genasar against opposition many times.
Yet, this very best friend suddenly killed him one day!
Damn it! Why? What did I do wrong?
Was it because I was useless? But all those things I brought from my original world—you all enjoyed them so much!
Was your kindness just an act all along? Were you all fed up with me from the start?
But now, I am a dragon born with extraordinary gifts.
With a Sage as my teacher, I absolutely have the confidence and strength to charge right in front of that guy, grab him by the collar, and demand to know why he did it!
A gentleman’s revenge is never too late, even after two hundred years! When I’m grown up, maybe I’ll follow those evil dragons’ example and raze a city or two, wipe out his whole clan while I’m at it! Damn it all!
Besides, Genasar felt no sense of belonging to those yellow-haired foreigners in that other world, and they never truly accepted him either. If need be, he wouldn’t regret killing them. “Burp~”
Without realizing it, Genasar had finished every bit of the meat in front of him and let out a heavy belch.
“I’m full now.”
“Mm~”
Geli, who had been watching the whole time, nodded with satisfaction as he finished the food.
She immediately moved closer, picked Genasar up, and weighed him in her arms.
“Not bad, not bad, you’ve gotten heavier! Your body is growing well. And you’re not only well-behaved, you’re adorable too, ehe~”
She hugged Genasar tightly and rubbed her cheek against him, clearly very pleased with her well-mannered little Red Dragon.
“Er…”
Genasar was already used to her antics.
Shouldn’t a Sage be dignified and respectable? Even if she was a bit eccentric, this was too much.
Being held in her arms made Genasar feel completely out of place, but there was nothing he could do. The size difference left him helpless, as she cuddled him like a kitten.
“Uh… Master, can you put me down? I can walk by myself.”
“No way! It’s rare to meet such a well-behaved and cute little dragon, of course I have to cherish you a bit more. What if you go bad in a while?”
What kind of talk is that? As if I have an expiration date…
Genasar had no choice but to stay in her embrace, occasionally having his head rubbed, his belly or chin scratched.
“My, you really are adorable, did you know that? Ehe~ I just love well-behaved and cute little boys like you.”
“Those brats from before were all little monsters—I didn’t even feel like looking at them. Now that I finally have a good one, I have to enjoy it while it lasts.”
She spoke as she began poking and prodding at Genasar again. Even someone with the best temper has a limit to how much they can tolerate.
“Chu, chu, chu~”
Finally, Genasar snapped.
“That’s enough! If you keep touching me, I won’t be so nice!”
He yelled as loudly as he could, but Geli just paused in surprise.
Then kept right on touching.
“My, you look even cuter when you’re angry~”
Genasar was thoroughly frustrated, but there was nothing he could do but wait for her to tire of playing with him.
