In the face of such a predicament, a magical girl with extraordinary speed and heightened perception naturally resorts to the most unorthodox solutions.
“How about we thoroughly inspect every suspicious place in the Satellite City?” Blazing Flame suggested. “Since logic’s failed us, let’s just use time to eliminate the wrong options.”
“You mean, relying purely on manpower to check every suspicious spot?” Sapphire asked.
“Exactly. We’re not detectives who can piece together clues from tiny traces. So why not take the dumbest approach and try to get closer to the truth step by step?”
“But that would mean a huge workload. It might take an entire day just to find the person,” Sapphire frowned.
“Well, Miss Sapphire, do you have a better idea?” Blazing Flame retorted.
Faced with Blazing Flame’s question, Sapphire suddenly fell silent.
Upon reflection, they really didn’t have any more reliable methods to find the missing people.
“…You’re right, Miss Blazing Flame. We have no other choice now,” Sapphire exhaled. “Dice, give Blazing Flame an earpiece.”
“No problem! I got it!”
The cat-shaped beast leapt out from Sapphire’s Magic Staff and handed a small black earpiece to Blazing Flame.
“What’s this…?”
“A military-grade two-way walkie-talkie. They come in pairs. As long as you stay within A City’s range, we can talk to each other,” Sapphire explained. “Take it—this will make it easier for us to coordinate.”
“Alright, I’ll take it then.” Blazing Flame accepted the earpiece without hesitation and put it on.
“You cover the northern half of Satellite City, I’ll take the southern half. Whoever finds the suspect first, notify the other. Deal?”
Sapphire looked at Blazing Flame, requesting.
“No problem! Leave the north half to me!” Blazing Flame nodded confidently.
“Good…” Sapphire closed her eyes and took a deep breath. “I’m heading out! Blazing Flame!”
“Got it! See you later, Miss Sapphire!”
……
“Last night was a Night of Peace. No one died.”
“Now, we move on to the speaking phase.”
The Clown stared at the twelve remaining players and hovered his fingers over their red buttons. With a resentful tone, he addressed the microphone.
It was already the fourth day.
Normally, by now, all identities would have been guessed, and it’d be time for the final bloodbath.
But so far, not a single player had died!
He didn’t bring these top-tier players here to watch them play such a heartwarming game of pretend.
What he wanted was to see them suspect each other, slander, betray—tear down their usual kind facades to reveal their true nature as Top Predators!
Did they look down on him? Did they think he wouldn’t give them a warning?
No Werewolf hunts the Prophecy, no Witch uses poison, and no Good player votes out suspicious speakers…
This boring, pointless situation was not what he wanted at all.
Fine, since all twelve had disobeyed their god’s will, he’d just kill some of them.
After all, Who is the Werewolf could be played with seven players—just less thrilling than twelve.
The Clown’s right hand hovered above the red button marked number eight, planning to press it when player eight spoke, so everyone would know his wrath.
Even though number eight’s earlier question hit his nerve, since that guy dared to provoke him—saying he wanted to go home and play gun games first—he’d send him to judgment right away.
As for the other four dead players, let them be decided by voting.
The Clown clenched his teeth, imagining the delicious chaos of mutual slaughter to come.
On the screen, player seven continued speaking, naming the four suspected Werewolves according to his instinct, without any logical reasoning.
Finally, with only two seconds left in the speaking countdown, player seven finished.
Next up was player eight…
“Bang!”
Just as the Clown was about to press the red button, a loud crash came from behind him.
Someone kicked down the door and stormed into his carefully prepared world!
Realizing this, the Clown snatched up the portable button from the table and shouted at the dark figure behind him.
“Don’t come near me! Or I’ll blow up everyone here! Including you!”
Hearing the Clown’s voice, the figure instantly stopped mid-air, not daring to advance.
The Clown sneered at the hovering girl, mocking.
“Well, if it isn’t the renowned Miss Sapphire from A City. What brings you to a nobody like me?”
“…Put down the button and surrender with your hands up. You might still get leniency.”
Sapphire’s gaze was icy and unwavering as she stared at the man. Her tone was utterly calm.
But the Clown burst into manic laughter upon hearing her.
“You want me to put down the button? Don’t you know your magical girl nature makes you nothing but a monster?”
“I bet if I put it down, you’d rush me and pin me to the ground immediately!”
Sapphire didn’t reply, silently watching the Clown’s every move for an opportunity to defuse the crisis.
Noticing Sapphire’s gaze, the Clown snorted coldly and raised the red button high, thumb resting on it as a threat.
“Get down from the air, drop your Magic Staff, and raise your hands. Or I’ll take everyone here with me.”
Sapphire looked at the Clown, silent for several seconds, then slowly dropped her Magic Staff, stepped back a few paces, and raised both hands.
“Good, very obedient.” The Clown nodded with satisfaction. “You really are smart, Miss Sapphire.”
“…One last piece of advice: surrender now. You might still save your life,” Sapphire warned the Clown who was threatening everyone’s lives.
“Surrender? You must be mistaken. The one at a disadvantage here is you, Miss Sapphire.”
Ignoring her, the Clown grabbed a camera from the table with his left hand—where it had come from, no one knew—and aimed it at Sapphire.
“Next, introduce yourself to the camera. Then transform back and give us a dance, Miss Sapphire,” the Clown ordered.
Sapphire remained silent, continuing to back away.
“I said, transform back and dance for the camera! Don’t you hear me, Sapphire!”
When the expected scene failed to unfold, the Clown flew into a rage and yelled at Sapphire, thumb pressing down on the red button, trying to intimidate her.
Sapphire pursed her lips, then narrowed her eyes as she stared at the man behind the Clown mask.
The Clown grit his teeth, glaring at Sapphire, and was stunned to find her eyes held…
Pity?
Feeling provoked, the Clown raised the button high and shouted at her.
“Introduce yourself! Transform back! Shake your hips to please me on camera! Or I’ll make everyone here—”
“Go to hell, you Clown!”
Before he could finish, a strange noise sounded above his head, and a large iron plate suddenly fell from the sky with lightning speed, striking him.
In the blink of an eye, the iron plate pinned the Clown down, causing him to lose balance.
The red-haired girl stepped onto the plate, her long-prepared fist crashing down hard, injuring the Clown through the metal, causing heavy bleeding and rendering him unconscious.
“…You hit too hard, Blazing Flame.”
Standing nearby, Sapphire sighed helplessly as she looked at Blazing Flame descending from above.
