“Speaking of which, I’m starting to get a pretty good idea of who’s been writing those little emperor stories about me,” Muxingge lowered her voice. “How about you help me catch that bastard when the time comes? Once we catch him…”
Muxingge’s face suddenly shifted from gloom to a bright smile. “I haven’t quite decided how to deal with her yet. Sirius, want to help me come up with something?”
“I-I guess? Just beat her up… that should do, right?”
Xiaoxi was both surprised and suspicious. But since Muxingge had come to discuss this with her, it probably meant she no longer doubted her.
After all, she’d presented enough evidence earlier that morning.
“That’s too mild. Got anything more ruthless? Something that would make her genuinely break down in tears and admit her mistakes in front of me?”
Xiaoxi swallowed hard, assuming Muxingge was just rambling after a few drinks and went along with it.
“Make her… experience the plot she wrote herself. While going through it, she has to keep writing. If she doesn’t meet the word count, she can’t get out…”
“Not a bad idea,” Muxingge patted Xiaoxi on the shoulder. “Then that’s how I’ll deal with her.”
Muxingge was in a good mood, thinking to herself, You’re pretty harsh on yourself.
She had no intention of ruining her fun tonight by exposing Xiaoxi now. She’d find a better chance later……
She had just said the culprit had to experience the plot while writing it, right? Well, that obviously had to be arranged!
After drinking and having fun, Xiaoxi helped Muxingge out of the private room.
Behind them, Xiao Keke was already exchanging contact information with Shandie.
Shandie actually sneered at the idea of getting along well with Xiao Keke, but the other’s enthusiasm was just too overwhelming. It was a reluctant acceptance… yeah, that’s it.
“Heh, Muxingge’s pretty drunk today. Haven’t seen her this wasted in a long time,” Lu Shu’s teasing voice greeted them as soon as they reached the hall. “Looks like she really trusts you guys.”
“Why do you say that? L-Lu Shu.”
“It’s fine, just call me Lu Shu,” he said, pulling out a cigarette and then shoving it back into his pocket. “Don’t be fooled by how she acts. She actually knows her limits. Sometimes she even comes here to hang out with others from your Association and has never gotten drunk.”
“Muxingge only gets drunk around people she’s familiar with. Besides you guys, the last time I saw her drunk here was when she came with her old teammates, and that was a long time ago.”
Really? Xiaoxi was taken aback. She’d never thought about it before. In her impression, whenever she went out with Muxingge, the latter would get drunk every time.
That meant that in Muxingge’s heart, both Eternal Star and Sirius were truly trustworthy?
Muxingge rested her head on Xiaoxi’s shoulder and let out a “Tsk.” She was indeed a bit drunk now.
She’d finished the beers she bought at the convenience store all by herself tonight.
After thanking Lu Shu and leaving the KTV, the night had grown deep, and the evening breeze carried a slight chill.
“Button up your clothes tight, be careful not to catch a cold tonight. Try to stick to main roads and well-lit places on your way back. Send me a message when you get home.”
“Got it, A Wolf. Why are you as naggy as my big sister? And we’re Magic Girls—what danger could we possibly run into?”
Xiaoxi quickly shut up. She always couldn’t help but nag when with Xiao Keke.
Trying to make amends, she glanced toward Shandie, only to see the latter walking away, waving at them with her back turned.
“Cough cough… well, you be careful on your way home. I’ll wait with Senior Xingge for the bus before heading back.”
“A Xing…” Muxingge’s sudden voice from her shoulder startled Xiaoxi. “Don’t lean on me, I can walk on my own!”
“Senior Xingge, you’ve got the wrong person. I’m not Eternal Star.”
“Oh…”
Muxingge shook her head. The cold night air had momentarily dazed her, making her vision blurry. Somehow, she thought the Sirius beside her looked a lot like A Xing.
“Thanks for waiting with me for the bus. How about… you come stay at my place tonight? I’ve got quite a few empty rooms.”
Muxingge suddenly became more alert, realizing now was a good opportunity to be alone.
“No thanks. I still have… a girlfriend waiting for me at home.”
Muxingge recalled the girl Xiaoxi had mentioned chatting with in the café that day. That girl was Xiaoxi’s girlfriend? She sounded pretty cute.
Before long, Miss L came to pick Muxingge up. After watching the taillights disappear, Xiaoxi quickly deactivated her Transformation and ran back to the KTV.
When she finally found Ye Xinglan’s group’s private room from memory, they were already preparing to leave.
Seeing Xiaoxi appear at the door looking guilty, they all froze.
“Well, I’m here to pick up Xinglan… I was worried she’d be unsafe walking alone at night.”
Xiaoxi’s flimsy excuse drew a chorus of “tsk” sounds.
“So romantic…” Jie Tianxin teased with a sly grin. “You know, Xiaoxi, we just saw a cute couple at the KTV earlier, all lovey-dovey and stuff…”
My mouth is way too coarse, please don’t say that! Ye Xinglan’s face had already darkened to the color of Zhang Fei!
To Xiaoxi’s surprise, Ye Xinglan said nothing on the way home. The deep silence only made her more uneasy.
It wasn’t until they were almost home that Ye Xinglan suddenly spoke.
“Warm my bed after we get home.”
“Ah… ah?”
“Ah what? You still owe me one from this morning, right?” Ye Xinglan gave Xiaoxi a sharp look. “My request is that you warm my bed tonight. Got a problem with that?”
Xiaoxi didn’t dare say no.
She obediently took a shower at home, only to find Ye Xinglan standing outside the bathroom holding a hairdryer when she came out.
Xiaoxi was startled and turned sideways.
“Why are you hiding? I’m not that ugly. Who cares if they see you,” Ye Xinglan rolled her eyes. “Sit still. I’m drying your hair.”
Xiaoxi’s heart was still uneasy. She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but when Ye Xinglan dried her hair, her round form would repeatedly press down on Xiaoxi’s back, heavy and reassuring.
“Miss Xiaoxi had a busy day today,” Ye Xinglan’s casual voice came from behind. “You messaged me in the afternoon saying you had a sudden overtime and probably wouldn’t be back for dinner. So you went to KTV after work, right?”
“I was thinking you weren’t home, and Sister Sweet Xin had invited me out for dinner, so I was going to go. Didn’t expect to run into you at the KTV. Hope I didn’t disturb your work, Miss Xiaoxi?”
Xiaoxi looked up, catching Ye Xinglan’s forced smile in the mirror.
She had indeed told Ye Xinglan that she was working overtime and couldn’t come back to cook dinner.
At the time, Xiaoxi was frantically dealing with a sudden magical beast incident, not knowing when she’d be done.
Now that reasonable excuse had turned into a flimsy lie!
