Liyami stared at the unmarked room before her, an overwhelming sense of unease settling deep within her.
However, Colin and Heffney by her side felt nothing of the sort. They detected no magical aura emanating from inside, so they didnโt think anything could go wrong.
Even if there was a problem inside, Colinโs strength should be more than enough to handle it.
In the end, Colin still opened the door. Inside was pitch black, unlike the other rooms that had some sources of light. Liyami tried to sense the darkness within but found nothing suspicious.
Colin was the first to step inside. After waiting outside for a while and seeing that Colin was fine, Liyami and Heffney also entered.
Colin summoned a light to illuminate the surroundings and began using divine magic to inspect the room. Heffney examined the items within, while Liyami checked the roomโs structure, finding no secret doors or hidden compartments. She slightly relaxed.
At that moment, Heffney suddenly waved over Liyami and Colinโshe seemed to have found something.
Liyami approached and saw Heffney studying an old book resting on a stone table. The book looked ancient, likely left untouched for a long time. It was also the only object in the entire room, possibly containing important records.
Liyami silently prayed that it held the clues she needed. After flipping through the pages for a while, Heffney looked up at Liyami and then smiled.
โFound it!โ
Hearing that, Liyami immediately grew excited and hurriedly asked what the book said.
โThere isnโt much useful information here. Most of it is just experimental records. But thereโs a small part mentioning a labyrinth called โYiquโ.โ
Heffney picked up the book and opened to a page. Just as she was about to explain, the ceiling suddenly lit up.
Liyamiโs unease instantly peaked. She knew that light all too wellโit was the glow of a magic circle activating!
She turned her gaze to the ceiling and saw that a magic circle was indeed running there. The scene stirred a very familiar dรฉjร vuโthis was just like what happened back in Alecโs labyrinth.
Seeing a magic circle suddenly appear and activate, Heffney hastily put the book away in her small carry pouch. She chanted a spell, attempting to stop the magic circle.
Colin dashed to the door, but his path was blocked by a transparent barrier.
Frowning, Colin drew his Sanctuary Sword and without any hesitation or charge, swung at the barrier. But it didnโt budge in the slightest.
Colinโs expression grew serious. He began to gather energy, preparing to use โHoly Light Judgment.โ
Liyami moved with โShadow Veilโ to the wall, finding the same kind of barrier there as at the door. She struck it with both daggers simultaneously, putting all her strength into it. Yet the barrier remained unchanged.
She tried hitting the ceiling and the floor as well, but the result was the sameโstrong barriers everywhere.
Panic grew within Liyami as she turned back to Heffney, hoping for a solution.
Heffney was drenched in sweat. She hadnโt expected that, with her current power, not only would she fail to detect this magic circle in time, but she couldnโt stop its activation by any means!
At best, she could only delay the magic circleโs effect. Until it fully activated, all they could do was hope Colin could break through the barrier.
Meanwhile, Colin had finished charging to maximum. At the last moment, he added multiple buffs to himself.
โHoly Light Spell: Full Enhancement,โ โHoly Light Blessing,โ โGift of Holy Light,โ โDivine Fire,โ โGrace of the Holy Light,โ โHoly Light Spell: Radianceโโฆ Colin stacked every buff available to him.
He swung his sword, blazing with dazzling light, at the barrier with all his might.
The blade clashed against the barrier, unleashing an immense shockwave that forced Liyami to stagger back several steps until she pressed against the wall. Even Heffney, standing at a distance, had to stop her incantation to brace against the wind pressure.
Colin kept pushing, trying to cut through the barrier. Ripples spread across its surface, and tiny cracks appeared where his sword struckโbut only barely.
Exhaustion crept in. The barrier, though marked by ripples and cracks, remained unbroken.
Finally, Colin slashed down one last time, pouring every ounce of his strength into it. Half-kneeling, he leaned on his sword, but the barrier held firm. Even for Colin, who rarely found himself truly stumped, despair was creeping in.
Liyami was dumbfounded. She hadnโt expected even Colin to be powerless against the barrier.
The magic circle above was nearing its brightest glow. When it reached peak brightness, its effect would trigger.
Liyami glanced at Heffney, who looked no better off than Colin. She had already drained all her magic trying to delay the activation and now sat helplessly on the ground, waiting.
Seeing this, Liyami felt hopeless. She tried using โShadow Veilโ to take them all out of there, but it was uselessโthey couldnโt pass through the barrier.
The magic circle finally reached its brightest point, and its effect triggered. Before that, Colin used his last bit of magic to form a protective barrier around Liyami and Heffney, hoping it would shield them from the magic circleโs power.
After all, this mess was his fault as the team leader. He should have been more cautious and only entered himself, keeping the others out. Then they wouldnโt be in this predicament. Colin felt a pang of regret, but no amount of remorse could change what was happening.
Sadly, the magic circleโs light easily pierced through the barrier and shone upon the three of them.
Liyami looked up at the ceiling and uttered the most resentful words sheโd ever said in her life.
โWhy is it always a magic circle again!!!โ
Some time later, Liyami slowly opened her eyes. She was puzzledโwhat exactly had the magic circle done? Why did she feel nothing?
In the pitch-black room, Liyami used her magic to sharpen her vision, allowing her to see clearly in the darkness. Now she was the only one in the room still holding magic.
But the moment she saw clearly, she was shocked by the magic circleโs effect.
She was completely naked! Her clothes had all been dissolved! No wonder she had felt sticky and cold just now!
Not only that, out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of something very troubling:
Colin was walking toward her!
