Chapter 4: Special Reward

“Fruit too?”

Now it was An Ling’s turn to be a little surprised.

But since it was so hot here and she had no preservation methods, it was obvious that something unsealed like this wasn’t suitable for storage.

She held the apple in her hand, and the information immediately appeared.

Seeing this, An Ling took a bite right away.

She continued fishing while munching on the apple.

An Ling plopped down on a wooden box, panting heavily.

During this time, she caught three more boxes, and the supplies accumulated were:

As she checked the contents of the boxes, An Ling realized the weather wasn’t as hot anymore.

She looked up toward the distant horizon.

The sun cast an orange-red glow, tinting the entire sea with a golden hue.

The ocean rippled with the breeze, shimmering in the light.

“I never thought my first sunset by the sea would be in this godforsaken place.”

Night was approaching.

She had no lighting or heating equipment, and the pitch-black sea would become utterly dark.

How terrifying that would be!Looking back, she hadn’t even managed to make herself a simple bed.

An Ling glanced at the thatch on the ground and immediately thought of a solution: she could stack the five boxes together and lay the thatch on top.

At least that would be better than sleeping directly on the grass.

No, she couldn’t keep fishing now.

She had to prepare before dark.

As she was about to gather the scattered supplies on the ground, she suddenly spotted some thatch floating nearby and deftly hooked it with one hand.

She had become increasingly skilled at using this buff and could now operate it single-handedly.

An Ling was stunned as a silver card appeared in her hand, with the words “Item Card” on the back and an image of a lighter on the front.

There was a translucent “Use” button on it. She tapped it, and the silver card emitted a glow before transforming into a black, patternless windproof lighter.

“A key item!”An Ling immediately put the lighter in her pocket, set down the fishing rod, and began organizing the supplies she had gathered.

These were the materials caught separately, besides the five boxes — a total of one hundred attempts that afternoon.

If she hadn’t wasted the morning, she could have caught even more using Perfect Aim.

Four boxes were enough to store these materials.

The island was small, and five boxes took up too much space.

An Ling simply dismantled one.

“Dismantle!”

After clicking dismantle, the wooden box turned into four wooden planks and four iron nails.

The sun was now halfway below the horizon, and dusk was settling in.

The survival manual clearly stated that no materials would appear on the sea at night, and judging by the temperature, the day and night temperature difference above the ocean was huge.

If she didn’t take precautions, catching a cold here would be fatal.

By now, An Ling had no intention of continuing to fish.

She opened the holographic screen to check the building panel.

With all these materials, she should be able to build more items.

Soon, a building option caught her eye.

An Ling realized they were different.

She clicked on wooden planks and found they were made by processing wood at a workbench.

Then she looked at another unlocked building: the workbench.

“Great, I have exactly three scrap iron.”

An Ling breathed a sigh of relief.

If she didn’t have enough scrap iron, tonight would truly be a night sleeping under the stars.

After clicking build, she saw she could choose the placement.

To avoid inconvenience, she put the workbench at the edge.

It was a long, table-like structure, but the surface wasn’t flat, and she could manipulate the building interface from it.

With the workbench, An Ling began processing wooden planks.

The ratio of wood to planks was 1:1, and it was very fast — it only took a few seconds to make the ten planks she needed.

Just as she was about to start building, she noticed she only had eight iron nails — not enough.

She dismantled another box and finally gathered enough materials.

“Build!”

An Ling placed the simple tent in the center of the island because it felt safest there.

As for its appearance, she had no expectations.

A triangular frame made from wooden planks, thatch laid on both sides, and a few nails holding it all together — it was as crude as it could be.

But at least it could block the wind.

That was far better than waking up with a cold the next day.
