The design of the Dungeon’s second floor was quite successful, but Su Yao still needed to refine some of the details.
She planned to arrange some “lotus leaves” on the lake surface in the Cave Hall to help people move around.
The good news was that such items existed in the Dungeon Shop. The bad news was that they were carnivorous monsters.
【Beastcatcher Giant Lotus】: a huge green leaf with small thorns along the edge. When a creature lands on it, the leaf folds shut from the middle, trapping and digesting the prey. It fears fire and high temperatures.
Adventurers suddenly getting trapped by these carnivorous plants, similar to Venus flytraps, while moving across the lotus leaves—just thinking about it was thrilling!
Of course, escaping was simple enough: just roast the leaf surface with fire.
Hmm, although it was somewhat dangerous, it was also quite fun. That’s what she’d go with!
Su Yao spent 7,000 DP to summon twenty Beastcatcher Giant Lotus.
These plant-type monsters, normally priced at 500 DP each, were arranged from the Lake Island all the way to the stone cliff shore, forming two water paths—one on the east and one on the west side.
After finishing that, she still needed to select appropriate locations on the second floor to place Treasure Chests.
Learning from previous lessons, she drastically reduced the number of weapons in the chests this time.
By the way, the chests in the first-floor Maze were planned to be replaced during the next refresh.
The Exquisite Treasure Chests containing eighty weapons would be cut down to forty.
The remaining forty chests she planned to swap for 【Exquisite Treasure Chest—Low-grade Life Potion】 and 【Exquisite Treasure Chest—Low-grade Magic Potion】.
The next chest refresh was scheduled for two days later. Previously, Exquisite Treasure Chests refreshed every ten days, but now, like the Normal Treasure Chest (Bread), they all refreshed every four days.
The reason was simple: this Dungeon already attracted over four hundred adventurers, and nearly two hundred lingered in the Maze daily searching for treasures.
If too many people returned empty-handed, it would affect the number of adventurers staying in the Maze, so the only option was to shorten the refresh interval.
Though it consumed quite a bit more DP, considering the monsters on the first and second floors as well as the soldiers captured, Su Yao’s daily DP income had reached 12,000 points.
This was a figure she had never dared to imagine before, yet she still felt poor.
Especially now, with only 5,000 DP left.
Curiosity really did kill the cat!
Next time, she would definitely not be fooled by these strange monster names again! Yes, next time for sure!
Determined, Su Yao began choosing spots on the second floor to set Treasure Chests.
First was the “Mushroom King’s” head, where she planned to place a 【Precious Treasure Chest—Universal Antidote Potion】.
This was an extremely practical reward—unless it was a death-inducing poison, it could save you. In a sense, it was like a “resurrection potion.”
Of course, such a great item wouldn’t be handed over to adventurers easily, so she removed all the 【Bouncing Mushrooms】 around the Mushroom King.
Su Yao could already picture adventurers emerging from the high Cave Maze, glimpsing this chest, and then desperately failing to obtain it.
That was the charm of a “Limbo Treasure Chest”!
But one “Limbo Treasure Chest” wasn’t enough. She wanted to set more, venting the grudges she held from playing a certain platform game (a sack of rice carrying several floors) onto others.
She carved some platforms and small caves into the stone walls around the Cave Hall—not too large, just enough to hold one 【Exquisite Treasure Chest】 each.
The placement of these chests was very deliberate; they were all visible to adventurers using 【Bouncing Mushrooms】.
Yes, just visible!
If they wanted to get them, they’d better use their stamina to climb.
Hopefully, their “yellow bar” was full, because falling wasn’t just a matter of losing HP like in games.
She arranged fifteen of these 【Exquisite Treasure Chests】 in the Hall, with rewards made from “Dragonhide.”
Despite the name, Dragonhide was actually from the Desert Lizard’s close relative.
Like Desert Lizard leather, it was highly popular for making leather armor.
With the Cave Hall chests basically done, next came the Maze chests—first in the twenty-five ordinary Cave rooms.
Most of these rooms had monster refresh points, but the monsters in these cave environments were a bit weak.
So Su Yao planned to randomly place ten 【Exquisite Treasure Chests】 in twenty of these rooms.
Half of these chests would contain weapons; the other half, low-grade life potions.
As for the remaining five rooms, sorry—they were completely flooded by the 【Water System】.
While she could have set some more “Limbo” chests in those rooms, there was no point in placing chests adventurers couldn’t reach, so she put that on hold for now.
Then, as usual, there were a hundred 【Normal Treasure Chest (Bread)】 to ensure unlucky adventurers wouldn’t starve.
Remember those narrow caves connected to the “Cave Tunnel”? Most of the Normal Treasure Chests were set there, with a few appearing in the Cave Maze.
Of course, Su Yao didn’t forget about the random refresh mechanism for these chests.
That was why she randomly placed ten 【Exquisite Treasure Chests】 in the twenty normal rooms.
As for the Hall’s chests, well, those were rewards for the brave, but she would reduce their refresh frequency.
Again, the same words: all of them, go adventuring honestly—no shortcuts!
Finally, Su Yao began setting up the “luxury grand prize” for this floor.
She placed the Boss Room on the edge of the Lake Island. This Boss Room had no special restrictions.
Other than being submerged in the lake, it was nothing extraordinary.
As for why she chose this…
“How is it, Futini? Do you like it here?”
“I do!”
The lake water gathered into a human shape—a faceless female figure made entirely of water.
As Futini’s favorability toward Su Yao increased, they could now communicate simply.
When it came to water spirits, their favorite place was always in the water.
Previously, her activity range had been limited to the small large fountain at the Dungeon Entrance Hall.
Compared to this lake, that was simply too small.
“Good to hear. Could I ask you a small favor?”
“No problem!”
“I plan to place a ‘sword’ in this room. Please guard it for me. Of course, if there’s a human you like, you can give the ‘sword’ to them directly.”
After agreeing to her request, the water spirit disappeared, evidently eager to swim around this large lake.
Back to the point: water, center, fairy, sword.
Exactly—Su Yao’s inspiration came from the legend of the “Broken Steel Holy Sword,” which was the ultimate reward she set on this floor.
The “Broken Steel” part was her own addition. At this stage, the only reward she could afford in the shop was the 【Luxury Treasure Chest—Pseudo Holy Sword】.
That said, she could use imagination to have the item summoned from the shop slightly modified.
At least in appearance, this holy sword should be identical to Excalibur.
A sword costing 10,000 DP, usable only by one acknowledged by the water spirit.
How’s that for romance?
Maybe that lucky person would be named “Arthur,” who knows?
