“Pft… hahaha!”
Fels patted Verenika on the shoulder. “Veren, did you see that? Xia Lili’s reaction was hilarious.”
“I don’t find it funny at all.” Xia Lili fought back the impulse to punch her and shot Verenika a glare.
Is this what you call a ‘pure-hearted person’?
“Sorry, sorry…” Fels wiped the tears from her laughter and stepped forward, reaching out to grasp Xia Lili’s wrist.
Xia Lili didn’t resist.
She was curious to see what Fels was up to next.
“Heehee, this is for you. Don’t be mad.”
Fels pulled out something hidden in her other hand.
A ring set with a ruby.
She slipped it onto Xia Lili’s left middle finger.
“…?”
Xia Lili stared at the ring on her finger, her mind filled with question marks.
Is this girl seriously crazy?
Is an engagement ring something you just casually put on someone?
“Don’t like it? I did spend 5 Gold Coins on it, at least.” Fels tilted her head, watching Xia Lili’s reaction.
Xia Lili was extremely annoyed by Fels’ strange behavior, especially with that twin-tailed little sprite hidden in her palm.
But then again…
“Is this really worth that much?” Xia Lili nudged Verenika with her elbow.
“More than that.” Verenika shook her head. “In the Magic Store, it’d cost at least 10 Gold Coins—and it’s rare to find a buyer.”
“Huh? A single ruby can be that expensive?”
“Because it’s a rare Magic Device engraved with Space Magic.”
“Oh~ well that makes sense then.”
Space Magic is one of the most complex and difficult to cast forms of magic when building Magic Circuits.
Even the simplest Storage Magic within the Space category is considered quite hard to master among high-level magics.
To engrave such magic onto a Magic Device requires not only exquisite skill and profound understanding of magic, but also very strict material requirements for the device itself.
Ordinary magic crystals can’t bear the strain.
Xia Lili had bought Space Magic Devices in games before, and their prices always started at 10 Gold Coins.
She had carried a heavy backpack for a long time just to save up enough to buy one…
Only to find herself transmigrated here shortly after.
“You really want to give me this?!” Xia Lili turned to Fels, suspecting another prank.
“Take it. I see no trace of greed in her heart.” Verenika said softly.
“Yeah, Xia Lili, I’m not going to wait until you’ve stored all the good stuff inside and then steal the ring… just kidding~” Fels stuck out her tongue. “I just thought you holding onto your money pouch all the time looked inconvenient.”
“…Then I’ll accept it for now.” Xia Lili tried to infuse her magic into the ring.
Fortunately, there was no obstruction to casting.
Her consciousness seemed to plunge into a void of pure white space. The money pouch in her hand touched the ring and, with a ‘whoosh’, appeared inside that space.
Xia Lili simply threw everything except her magic sword in.
When she withdrew her magic, the pure white space closed.
As her sight returned to reality, she saw Fels reach for her right hand.
What was this little cutie up to now?
Having just received such a useful item, Xia Lili found Fels far more endearing.
If not for the earlier business of stuffing bugs onto her hand, she might have wanted to pick Fels up and give her a kiss.
But no matter how many possibilities she imagined, she never expected Fels to actually sink her teeth into her finger.
Hiss…
Blood trickled from her fingertip.
Fels placed Xia Lili’s index finger on the ring. As the blood flowed onto the ruby, she chanted a magic incantation, causing a mark to appear on the ring.
“All done. The blood imprint makes it so only you can use the ring.” Fels grinned.
“Can’t you at least warn me before doing something like that? And maybe bite somewhere else…” Xia Lili rubbed her aching finger.
“What’s wrong with biting a finger?”
“You don’t get it. This is one of the most important parts for girls!”
“Not for everyone, I guess~”
“At least for me, it is.”
“Alright then~” Fels put her hands behind her back and leaned forward close to Xia Lili’s eyes. “Xia Lili, now that you’ve accepted my wedding ring, you belong to me.”
“You’re saying this to someone who just stole a marriage?”
“I don’t mind. I’m just saying it for fun.”
Fels hopped and skipped toward the east city gate. “Let’s go. I want to see what’s in the Aiden Forest.”
Xia Lili watched Fels’s departing figure, unable to help but point at her and ask Verenika, “You call this ‘pure-hearted’?”
This girl is clearly an even more chaotic troublemaker than I am!
“You can’t judge by appearances.” Verenika’s eyes sparkled like stars as she looked toward Fels, seeing only pure white.
“Everyone in this world has desires—money, status, fame, power… but I see no greed in her. It’s something I’ve never seen before.”
“Why do I feel like those kinds of people are even scarier?” Xia Lili glanced at Verenika. “I’m curious, you said my greed is for money, so what about yours?”
Verenika didn’t answer. She smiled gently at Xia Lili, then averted her gaze and followed after Fels.
“?” Xia Lili felt a little unnerved under Verenika’s gaze.
