As time passed, the crowd gathered around the notice board gradually dispersed.
Later, adventurers who hurriedly ran over to glance at the board could only pinch their noses with grim expressions and pick some of the lower-ranking quests before setting off out of the city with a heavy heart.
At this moment, Krexia stepped forward again. The state of the quests on the notice board was much the same as when she had first seen them.
What remained were either scraps with no reward or tough nuts that ordinary people couldn’t even chew.
Automatically filtering out the trifling F-rank tasks.
As expected, the C-rank and B-rank quests had barely changed, except one task — clearing out the monster cluster inside the Mithril Mine — was missing.
She had skimmed through the details last night.
Apparently, a group of Slimes had gathered for some unknown reason at the outer mine in the southern Mageling Forest. Many of these were Elemental Slimes, which were difficult for most Mages to deal with, and there were multiple reactions from Third-Tier monsters.
Considering the monster density and the complexity of the situation, this quest was rated C-rank.
She figured Fana’s team must have taken it.
Glancing back at the three members of Fana’s group, Fana noticed Krexia staring and waved her quest slip at her.
Krexia’s sharp eyes caught a glimpse of it.
Sure enough, it was what she thought.
Thinking it over carefully, Fana was the daughter of a noble family, definitely not an idiot, so there was no need for her to tag along. Krexia then tore off the C-rank quest titled [ Goblin Settlement Removal ] from the board.
[ Quest Name: Goblin Settlement Removal ]
[ Quest Rank: C, recommended to be undertaken by a well-structured team of at least three Silver-rank or higher adventurers ]
[ Quest Details and Related Information: A settlement has formed in the foothills of the central Mageling Forest, consisting of at least 30 Young Goblins, 10 Adult Goblins, and 3 Greater Goblins, with the possible presence of a Goblin Shaman. ]
[ The settlement has a record of attacking lone adventurers and villages. The surrounding area is designated as a medium-risk zone, posing a certain threat to the city’s outskirts. ]
[ If not dealt with promptly, the settlement may expand further and give rise to higher-tier monsters such as the Goblin General. ]
[ The team undertaking this quest must eliminate the entire settlement and kill all three Greater Goblins. If the Goblin Shaman is present and killed, additional rewards will be granted based on the Shaman’s rank. ]
[ Quest Reward: 80 gold coins, one Fourth-Tier Magic Crystal (attribute selectable), various Magic Materials (cashable for 30 gold coins), and one Third-Tier Magic Item. ]
This was the easiest quest Krexia found after a thorough review.
Only three Third-Tier Greater Goblins, and ten Second-Tier Adult Goblins—just slot a Second-Tier Magic Crystal into the gun and line them up for execution.
The Young Goblins were First-Tier monsters, a mere rabble that could be wiped out with a single Third-Tier spell.
The reason why few had accepted this quest was that the monsters held an absolute advantage over humans with similar combat power.
In a one-on-one fight, a normal Silver-rank Swordsman simply could not defeat a Greater Goblin.
They wouldn’t be kicked to death like a roadside dog, but battles generally ended within ten to fifteen minutes, usually with the human swordsman’s defeat.
As for Mages?
That depended on the circumstances. If a Mage couldn’t take down a Greater Goblin with a surprise offensive spell right away, it was basically game over—they’d be stuck waiting for the defeat cutscene.
After all, humans don’t possess nearly as much Magic Power as monsters, Elves, the Blood Clan, or Western Magical Beasts.
They can’t release magic as efficiently as those beings. Instead, they have to train their spirit and condense Magic Inscriptions as a foundation for magic’s energy, combining other inscriptions and Magic Circles, and manually constructing Magic Circuits to cast spells.
This system allows for extremely high magic output but has poor emergency response.
Therefore, when a human Mage ventures out, they must at least be accompanied by a swordsman to handle unexpected encounters.
Just think of that genius Mage who was assassinated by an assassin.
He was once a noble Fourth-Tier Mage—
Yet he was one-shot by an assassin of the same rank.
It just shows that human Mages are frail; they’re easy targets, and a single strike can earn a ton of gold.
Krexia took the quest slip over to Sensa for confirmation. Sensa accepted the quest and looked at Krexia with a somewhat strange expression.
“Um… Miss Krexia, are you sure you want to take this quest alone?”
“There are other quests on the board too. Although the F-rank rewards are lower, for an outstanding Mage like you, completing one solo and collecting Magic Crystals and Magic Materials along the way could still bring in a decent income.”
“You know how Goblins are—they’re not exactly well-regarded anywhere…”
Krexia knew Sensa was worried she might fail the quest and get gobbled up by the Goblins, urging her to be cautious.
Even for a Fourth-Tier Mage, tackling a mission like this alone was very challenging unless they had an excellent tank to absorb damage.
But Krexia was confident. Monsters of this level didn’t scare her.
“Don’t worry, Miss Sensa. I know what I’m doing. As long as the information is accurate, nothing will go wrong.”
“I’ve dealt with entire teams of Silver-rank adventurers before, so handling a bunch of noisy Goblins is no problem.”
At this, Fana and the others waiting nearby exchanged awkward glances.
It had only been a day since their ordeal locked in the Wind Prison, drinking nothing but thin air.
Seeing she couldn’t be persuaded, Sensa sighed and stamped the parchment with a [ Quest Accepted ] seal.
“Remember to bring back the left ears of the Greater Goblins as proof of completion. Only then can you report back and receive your rewards.”
Sensa handed the quest slip back to Krexia and also fetched a map of the Mageling Forest and Vanor City from under the counter.
The map marked the medium- and high-risk areas in bright red, along with Krexia’s mission location.
Krexia took the quest slip and the map, smiling as she waved her hand.
“Thank you for the map, Miss Sensa. It’s a huge help.”
With that, she turned and left, with Fana following behind her.
“Safe travels.”
After nearly a week of being left untouched, two C-rank quests had been accepted in one go today.
Looks like today’s luck was pretty good.
